Definitely would be a great get for to Sharks and the WAFL if he was to play on in 2014. However I get the feeling that if he was able to go around again even at WAFL level he would still be at the Eagles.

Jamie McNamara returns to the Sharks
Posted on 16/10/2013
JamieMcNamara2 Jamie McNamara will return to the East Fremantle Football Club in 2014.

Jamie was recruited by West Coast Eagles from East Fremantle with the 16th pick in the 2006 rookie draft. He debuted for the Eagles in Round 21, 2007 against St Kilda and played a total of 19 AFL games for the Eagles, totalling 4 goals and 282 possessions. After being delisted by the Eagles in October 2009, Jamie returned to the Sharks and was a standout player in the 2010 & 2011 seasons, finishing runner up in the Lynn Medal (EFFC’s Fairest and Best Award) in both years. He played a total of 77 League games for the Sharks.

For the last 2 years, Jamie has played for Williamstown in the VFL. He played a total of 27 games, kicking 10 goals and was nominated amongst the best on field 12 times.

Jaime now returns to the Sharks and has signed on with the Club for the next 3 seasons. As a talented midfielder Jamie will be a great addition to the squad, particularly with the recent retirement of Richard Hadley.

“We as a Club and the playing group are thrilled with the news that Jamie will return to the East Fremantle Football Club in 2014” said Football Manager Darryn Fry. “Notwithstanding his obvious talent, Jamie is of high character. Jamie was twice runner up in our Lynn medal and previously part of our leadership group so his experience will certainly add value to the continued development of our younger players. We look forward to J Mac getting back to Perth in the coming weeks to begin pre-season training with the Sharks.”

Coach Steve Malaxos looks forward to having Jamie back on board with the Sharks, stating, “I am very pleased that Jamie is returning to play at EFFC. He will bring hard running, contested ball winning and marking ability to our team, as we strive to succeed in 2014. His leadership and experience will be invaluable.”

Jamie has also expressed his excitement at coming home to the Sharks. “I'm looking forward to coming home and playing with East Freo in what should be an exciting time for the club in the next few years. It's great to re-join some of my good mates who I have played a lot of footy with, hopefully in the next few years we can create some history of our own.”

Should I put a cat amongst the pigeons and say well done on EF appointing Simon Black as EF playing coach for the 2014 season.....geez Kerr and Black hobbling through EF midfield next year would be worth the WAFL admittance cost......

christ if Andy Krak can pick up 40 possessions in the WAFL...how many would Black collect....80......probably 100 possessions!!....congrats to Black and his outstanding career.....from all reports the guy was liked by all n sundry on and off the footy field.

Blacky certainly had a stellar career at Brisbane and yet EF only saw fit to play him predominately in the Reserves in his time at the dilapilated Shark Park freeze!!
They certainly dont like giving the young blokes much of a go in the League team down there!!

yeah quite true BH.......EF hate playing their youngsters in the league..........I just wish EF were like SD.....

how many debuted for SD again this year?..... was it 4 newbies or was it 5?......christ talk about setting the benchmark for the WAFL!!........fingers crossed EF can improve on the 10 or so newbies they blooded this year.......

obviously you don't disagree with my assessment that if Kraks can get 40 possessions in the WAFL, someone like Black could easily double that.....even with a wooden leg!!

yeah you got me again BH......there's me thinking you weren't gonna bump your numbers up with those Perth recruits(Rogers/Elari) you got this year or a fella(Ugle) who actually debuted for Collingwood in the AFL / VFL before he debuted with his own local club....actually how in the hell did that happen?.... considering SD blood all their decent colt's boys before they get drafted....unlike EF...... :silly:

so yep the Foxtel boys are in....what's good for the black & white goose is good for the gander as they say........as for Swandog and his passion for playing snap.....I suggest you go back to what you do best swandog......playing 'old maid' or simply being one :P

so all in all EF did well to give debuts to over 11 players......hopefully a few of these boys can build on that in 2014......hopefully SD can sneak a few more local boys into their top ten next year as well......though with Andy Krak coming back and the poaching of a gun SF mid, I really can't see that happening hey? :pinch:

on a serious note though BH :P ......I noted SD last two premiership sides (2010 & 1990) had a lot of local lads playing......why are SD so keen on recruiting the non locals these days?......when you haven't had the same success.......8 out of your top 10 players being non local is a lot don't you think?.....Is it the AFL effect or lack of kids playing footy these days in SD zone?

I know EF have struggled of late......perhaps they should adopt the old 1998 philosophy and recruit more non locals......what I'd give for a Mellody, Bromage, Condon, Madigan, Egan, Spalding type these days.......positives/negatives I guess for both sides of the recruiting or developing debate.
