Disappointed to see both these boys delisted.......
Eardley was always going to be working hard breaking into Geelongs defence and midfield, plenty of quality in both those areas for Geelong. Hopefully the kid gets another gig else where.
Howson for me was always going to be a 3 yr project for Freo.....tall and skinny but kicked goals at both levels he has played in so far......not too sure if other factors are involved, often curious as to why Malaxos seemed reluctant to play the kid in the league side, even though he was regularly kicking goals in the reserves.....attitude? or Malaxos thinking long term that Howson wasn't going to be at EF in 2014 because of the Peel alignment.
For EF in 2014 both of these fellas would be more than handy, Eardley as a hard at it midfielder or small defender.....reckon at EF he would be a midfielder more than a defender. Howson would easily be EF FF for the next 5 years plus.....something EF has lacked for many a year.....though time will tell if both fellas are still interested in playing footy and that EF will be their first choice to play in the WAFL.......
quite surprised Howson got the flick before Duffy and Menagola too.....Freo have a plethora of Duffy/Menagola types, yet very few Howson types!
