6pm at Carnabys! It should make for an interesting evening with almost a Melbourne Cup field of nominees (10) for the vacant Board positions.

So Gaspar, Stagg and Micale come onto the EF board, with Tripi keeping his spot through re-election. Ennio Tavani takes over the reins from long standing presudent Mark Stewart. Some fresh faces and hopefully some fresh ideas for EF off field... time will tell.

Anyone go... Custy? KC? Ti Em? Strono?....FF2?.....Actually has anyone seen or heard from FF2?

Generally a positive and optimistic evening.
Certainly a bigger crowd than recent AGM’s.

Financially EFFC had an operational loss of $17000. This result was offset by the $160000 first instalment of the government’s $340000 assistance package. Otherwise the loss would have been $177000.

The state government contribution would be used for a new electronic video scoreboard and for works associated with moving into the new premises.

Adrian Bromage dispelled some of the angst surrounding the ‘no fence’ issue by explaining that gate takings since the decline of the WAFL in recent decades average about 2.4% of the club’s annual income. This loss of income would be offset by not having to pay for any maintenance, utilities etc under the new lease agreement.

Looking forward to getting down to Shark Park this season. A long time coming for you guys to get back home but I’m really interested to see if there’s a positive or negative impact from not having a fence!
Will more people turn up with no gate fee or will EF membership sales decline over time?

The 2.4% figure of the clubs annual income for gate takings doesn’t add up.If you have a very conservative figure of an average of 1000 spectators for your 9 home games at $20 a throw, that’s 180K,so for that 2.4% figure to be correct, the club would have to have an annual income of around 8 million???

Yep,that gate taking percentage is way off,my understanding the break even figure for an average WAFL club from an ex WAFL board member around 6 years ago,was anywhere between 1 to 1.5 mill.

Yes - this stuff straight out of CNN or the New York Times. Awful that their own are spewing it out.
Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!
