Round 1 is upon us, not sure where the off/pre season has gone, but good to have WAFL footy back. EF got done over by WP and Cl in the preseason matches, falling away badly in both games in the last quarter. Can't really afford to do that against the AFL laden Peel side.

No Jon Marsh for obvious mad dog reasons, great to see Dixon back from WCE and O'Reilly back from injury though. Couple of decent tall targets there....well atleast on paper, with smaller types in Montubaun, English and Leggett at their feet. The mids will be crucial for a few goals too, be interesting to see how newbies in Joyce, Turner and H Marsh go.

Defence wise EF will be reliant on the likes of Bailey, Jupp, Eardley, Gorringe, Tassone and Meade to carry on from 2022...., will be interesting to see if Peel can expose EF lack of height up back....I wonder if Simpson comes into ruck with Cripps, and McGuire due to his greater athleticism out of the 3, will help out back.

Freeze, heard Monaghan say that Meade is out for 6 weeks, Lester-Smith a couple of months and Simpson unlikely to play League with Dixon and McGuire preferred to shoulder the ruck duties.

Thanks mate, bugger about Meade, good lock down defender, yep knew Snuffy 2 jnr was on the injury list....though didn't think it was months.

With Marsh out, would of thought Dixon and O'Reilly would play as  permanent forwards and Simpson on the bench to support McGuire....guess not.

Well looks like Bill has changed his mind and Eddie Simpson will play in the league game tomorrow. Ruben McGuire has been named as 1st Ruck with young Josh Cripps an emergency. It is a decent side going down to Mandurah tomorrow but tough ask to beat the Dockers though.

Looked good till 3/4 time, then disappointingly and frustratingly EF went to sleep as Freo Thunder stepped on the gas. These scoreless quarters and 15 min brain fades are definitely going to bite EF in the arse as the season goes on.

Good spread of goalkickers, some good midfield moments, contained Freo Thunder up front until the last stanza, then a couple of their aligned boys got off the leash....very much a rinse and repeat effort  of that round 1 loss last year to Freo Thunder. Hopefully the side can move on quickly like they did last year, and rack up a few wins on the trot.

You are being diplomatic as always Freez. We were up against 25 men down there yesterday. Terrible last quarter and not just by our boys.

Yeah noticed that mate. Always difficult when that happens. From what I saw on the live stream, EF showed plenty they will be there and there abouts come finals time...though like last year, SD will be keen to open their account in round 2, after their 1 pt loss to EP....and SD were killing us at half time in that game, then allowed EF back in it to win the 4 pts....Can't see that happening again next week TBH.

Like I said on another thread a team loaded with fulltime pro's will generally run over a team of part timers.
