Well done to your boys Freezin. It took a lot of resilience and character to come from 26 points down at half time and get over the line. I think you will see a real improvement in the side this year as they seem to be playing a better brand of team footy and they have some good forwards like o'Reilly. I was impressed with the way they played, probably should have won by a bit more but they kept Swans in it with some wasteful play and turnovers. I thought their defensive performance into the breeze in the 3rd Quarter was outstanding and set up the last quarter push.
COVID was not an issue, Swans had enough of their A grade players on the park to be able to win the game. Also look what Claremont did today.

I agree with mikeh thoughts on the Swans thread, despite being 26 down at half time, the Sharks were in control for large parts of the first half but wasted opportunities and Swans were clinical. The game was also quite frenetic and the 3rd quarter was a real different game to the first half as EF began to control the game. The last quarter went back to the helter skelter and EF looked to have all the running- despite being a man down for most of the game (Walker). Great win in the end that should give the players some confidence.

Baskerville was excellent, continuing the form that won him the Lynn Medal. Boekhorst was also outstanding- he kicked 3 and found plenty of the ball, Leggett had an outstanding last quarter and Teakle and Goddard look like they could form a great partnership. Teakle has really come on as a player this year.

Important win and a big game in Northampton next weekend.

Cheers for the comments mikeh...I see what you meant about young Edward's for SD...definitely got a great leap on him. Can see him and Hewitt being looked at come draft time.....obviously frustrating with those outs for SD, but I guess every club is going to have to deal with it at some point in the year....

Cheers KC, yep agree about Teakle, seems to have come into his own with Strnadica gone, though Goddard definitely will help with EF talls. A lot depends on Jupp staying fit though, really would like a tall  up back to help the skipper, though as you say Murphy, Mead and Tucker can all play tall if push comes to shove....pity McGuire has done a hammy.....be interested if Bonomelli with his 4 goals in the reserves gets a call up, considering Jnr got a call up after his 4 goals in the reserves the week before....looks like a precedent has been set.

With Walker maybe an out, will McDonald get a look in or maybe Ritchie or Williamson?

Bit of an understatement to say it was good to get the win after trailing a hard running Swans side for most of the match. Was not feeling so confident at 3 quarter time but credit to our boys for the 6 goals to 1 came last quarter. Umpires unfortunately (fortunately maybe for us) got a bit too involved in the final outcome showing why the 50 metre penalty should be halved.

As mentioned Baskerville with 39 touches and heading our tackle count was most likely our best. He was run close for that honour by Boekhurst, who ran himself almost to a stand still by the end of the match. Milan Murdock should be mentioned too as he was also very good as usual. Likewise Eardley off half back. Good to see Leggett and Jansen lift when it mattered, going into the middle to help win clearances and lay some strong tackles.

Seems like quite a few of the Reserves are pushing for league spots including McDonald, Williamson, Smith, Ritchie, Aitken-Featherstone and Bonomelli.

Hopefully EF can kick on from here and start beating some of the top tier teams ( especially the Bulldogs!) . One thing that may need to be worked on is a strategy to stop an opposition run on. When Swans were kicking multiple goals in the first and second quarters many Sharks players appeared to go missing and the goals came quickly and  easily. Could be as simple as everybody manning up on an opponent and slowing the game down to try and stop the momentum.
Better teams than Swans will not let you back in the game if you concede too many successive goals.

I thought that so many times they looked brilliant, then turned it over with poor skills.  Still, the good stuff came back when it was needed.
