I thought Dixon was serviceable and had some good moments. We looked dangerous when we moved the ball quickly but too often shot ourselves in the foot. I doubt morale took a hit- in fact, I walked away thinking we’re not that far away. Schoenfeld, English and Murdock were again good through the midfield. Lack a crafty small forward and in that regard we missed Chalmers. Thought Strnadica was excellent and has thrived in the ruck.

Watched the 2nd half of the Reserves- not sure what happened in the 1st half but it was a competitive game and EF got within under 3 goals at one stage. Like the League, some bad turnovers snuffed out any chance of victory.

Good to see Ryan have a few possessions in the reserves...talented sort, just injury prone....

agree re Chalmers, provides experience and nous to the forward line, hopefully he is back sooner rather then later....reckon Ryan and Chalmers could be a good goal kicking combination small forward wise, along with EF talls in O'Reilly, Dixon, Strnadica and Marsh floating around in there....

as you say KC, the mids look ok, just need delivery and decision making to be improved...hopefully that gelling process will happen sooner rather then later...

Defensive wise I guess patience will be needed for the likes of McGuire and Davidson as tall support up back for Jupp.....the defensive flanks and pockets seemed covered with the likes of Leggett, Tucker, Baskerville, and Davies....with cameos from Marsh, LesterSmith, Snadden etc  perhaps from time to time....

FF2....yeah Wiley did well in his first 8 games at EF....won 5 lost 3, yep  EF beat Subi by 80pts and SF by 30 odd pts.....but finished the season winning only 4 more games from the remaining 12....funnily enough Subi beat EF by 78 pts the next time they met in 2016......then don't forget that 0/10 start the very next year in 2017......amongst them was a 145 pt loss to SF....and many more shellackings after that...mainly from Subi, Cl and SF......what did EF achieve in 3 years under Wiley?.....a spoon and missed out on a second spoon because SD rolled over for EF in the last match of the season, enabling EF to hand the spoon to Perth.....Wiley was persevered with.....for three years.....he had initial success in his first 8 games with 5 wins.....then after that his next 50 odd games coincided with some very heavy defeats and only 9 wins....that's appalling......Monaghan really needs to be judged after 3  full season coaching at EF....not one and half seasons of footy.....geez how long did  it take Spalding to get Perth above 7th spot?....at  least 4 full seasons of coaching.....none of us here are saying Monaghan is the messiah, but it was obvious the performances of the club have become more competitive....last year EF lost by one kick v 3  eventual finalists.......many games under Wiley, especially in 2017/18 were lost by half time, at least under Monaghan, EF are still in games at 3/4 time.....judge him at least by the end of the season.....until then the jury is out on Monaghan in my view.

FF2 has shown himself to not have a clue about footy and the goings on at EF. Menegola was moved on by Wiley, who also brought in Watson, Winton, Boekhorst, Loersch, Kommer, Fahey (and Snadden and Jansen) as well as trying to poach Hille from EP. Yet apparently he developed the list. 75% of the current list on the EF website is local talent- it could be higher but i'd say that's within the acceptable range.

Freezin is spot on. While EF have been competitive over the last year and a bit- the wins haven't come and that will put pressure on Monaghan. Let's reserve judgement until the end of the year but I'd hope if it was another unsuccessful year then they'd make the hard decision- unlike Wiley, who they fluffed about with and extended until he'd lost the players and he fell on his sword.

It is probably time for a few on the board to step away and bring in some fresh faces. I’m not across what they actually do or how they really conduct themselves as I watch the game amongst our supporters. You’re prob better to comment on that, it appears, FF2. I guess if the people in charge of the football department aren’t getting the resources to run it properly then the board is failing.

Pretty obvious all EF fans are frustrated with the lack of on field success since 2000....poor decisions on and off the park have contributed to the current 22 year drought....with only 2 GF appearances in that time and a handful of finals appearances.....mixture of coaching personalities in that time....old school fire &  brimstone sorts in Dunbar, Malaxos and now Monaghan....to quieter, calmer, empathetic sorts in LesterSmith, Wiley and Woewodin.....players have come and gone, like at any club....as have the board....though at a slower turn over rate then the players it seems.....yet still the drought lingers.

Monaghan is here till the end of the year, the board haven't offered any extension as of yet, I guess if they were sort sighted and as pro Monaghan as some folk think, then surely the extension would of been signed and sealed by now....it hasn't..so the next 6-8 weeks is going to be an interesting one for all concerned....all EF fans want is a side that wins more then it loses and provides a competitive brand of footy......feel closer to that happening with Monaghan at the helm then Wiley....as for the board.....hopefully the likes of a Condon will attract other younger pro active sorts in to putting their hand up.....do like the idea of HT getting a match day coaching gig with some external guidance.....

they were unable to kick a goal under Wiley due to his style of play.

Subi is still a powerful team maybe not as dominant as previously, probably 3rd line of betting after SF and CL, so EF performance was pretty good for 3 qtrs at least, they matched it with us with a mix of open fast play and hard physical in and under play. Given their last qtr fade, maybe you need to look at the fittness programme if you going to run games out against the top teams.

Bill is not my issue freeze ....... it’s the board. Most board members have been there too long! Harry Taylor would make a great coach and a tremendous draw card to attract players to the club. Throw in Woey as one of the assistants etc. The players loved Wiley........ the board could not control him. They did not embrace the restructuring process he was undertaking. They wanted instant success! When you are dealing with stubborn non football people I guess it becomes extremely frustrating and in the end you realise you’re hitting your head against against a brick wall you say fark this! Wiley is so highly rated in the football world he is now No. 1 ticket holder at WCE. At think that says something for his credibility. Malaxos led them to a GF and PF. He was sacked because he verbally berated a player after a game against West Perth in 2015. Once again they thought he was getting too big for his boots, here’s an opportunity to get rid of him. They’ll do the same to Bill at some stage if he doesn’t tow the line.
Harry Taylor as a coach is a complete unknown - he may have no desire to coach or maybe he does but could turn out to a be terrible coach. Does the club have a problem attracting players? does not appear so. FF2 was pretty quiet after round 1 - do we attribute wins to the Board.or just losses. Where does what happens off the field meet on field performance anyway?  The Board also changes over time and different board members oversee different areas - as we all know. Perhaps instead of hating the board and being a bore after each loss FF2 should become part of the board.

One thing for sure mate.......you’re no intellectual giant! I think your comment...... ‘ Where does what happens off the field meet on field performance anyway?‘.......says it all......shows your naivety and ignorance! 🙄🙄🙄
I am all for contrarianism but this is a just a wind up by someone trolling for attention and best ignored.
