StT you may well be correct and there are some that will say even that is too soon but after listening to Mr Barnard at the AGM, having been down to Altone Park to watch training I am more confident than I was at season start last year with the c graders from WCE.

We appear to have cut the squad down to abt 65 from the 100 or so there before the festive season and they have been doing scratch matches to embed the game plan and style. There seems to be a different feel abt the coach and he was very honest abt what he found when he started and what needed to improve both on and off the field. I think that some of his comments and assertions will have annoyed some at the AGM from where I sit I would agree and perhaps there are still some things that need to continue to improve especially in some of the off the field things but that may come with time.

The other stuff at the AGM was ok, $90K profit with the balance improved ( and yes I know why and how), I though the change of accountants and auditors ( both due to the WCE going) is a significant point given that 5 out of the 8 WAFL clubs (happily can say that now) are using the same Auditors.

Generally speaking the club seems to be working hard at all levels to move forward and time will tell where we are at at seasons end.

Grump...is the view that things need to improve both on and off the field a cause for concern given EP has been pretty much at the mercy of an AFL behemoth? You'd think that WCE would have made sure best practice was installed in both areas given their developing players were exposed to the club on a weekly basis and other than a few minor tweaks by the incoming coach to suit his game plan it would be business as usual.

It is only my impression from his comments that there were aspects of the clubs functioning that need/ed to be improved.

I would think that the WCE legacy may well have been a bit of complacency that WC would do the heavy lifting that we could coast along (pun intended) (my opinion based on what I saw and heard around the club at seasons end last year)

They aren't earth shattering but things that need to be put right sooner than later, same as other clubs with a new regime.

No..he sold the idea when he first arrived by mentioning that the carltons womens team train 5 hour sessions. He is practical in that he realises they do have to work and so the 4 hour sessions three days a week with a catch up day on Saturday for those who can't complete all their training midweek.
