Had a listen to the coaches talk and it gives confidence of a competitive year.Like his comment on the fact that we have recruited the wrong type of players to play on our grounds in the past.Royce Vardy is one that comes to mind.Always better to recruit quality then quantity.Obviously a lot of opportunity for those who have stuck around and looks like he will try to develop within the group.

This kills me to say it but I like Barnard, no nonsense type, doesn't mince his words and speaks truthfully. Good get I reckon.

Seems a little excessive, must include travelling time to and from training

At the AGM he explained that he told the players 3 nights and four hours and that needed to buy into it to be competitive. There have been some players who have bailed from the 100 or so who started and it is now down to abt 70. It would seem that it is what they are willing to do and that from our place is a good thing!

Being based at the same oval I'm sure EP have seen the intensity of the Subiaco training regime and have made the committment to go that extra yard to be competetive at least fittness wise with Subi but as you say it needs everyone to buy in.

StT you may well be correct and there are some that will say even that is too soon but after listening to Mr Barnard at the AGM, having been down to Altone Park to watch training I am more confident than I was at season start last year with the c graders from WCE.

We appear to have cut the squad down to abt 65 from the 100 or so there before the festive season and they have been doing scratch matches to embed the game plan and style. There seems to be a different feel abt the coach and he was very honest abt what he found when he started and what needed to improve both on and off the field. I think that some of his comments and assertions will have annoyed some at the AGM from where I sit I would agree and perhaps there are still some things that need to continue to improve especially in some of the off the field things but that may come with time.

The other stuff at the AGM was ok, $90K profit with the balance improved ( and yes I know why and how), I though the change of accountants and auditors ( both due to the WCE going) is a significant point given that 5 out of the 8 WAFL clubs (happily can say that now) are using the same Auditors.

Generally speaking the club seems to be working hard at all levels to move forward and time will tell where we are at at seasons end.
