It was a humbling day for me being next to Chaddy, Jim Haines and having Cowboy Bygraves and Noddy McAullay bending my ear telling how good they were back in the day, no contradictions from me but funny and made a great day that much more fun.Jack Sheedy was there as was Bill Forrest and that in itself is a just a bonus. The club also had a birthday cake for the youngster Trevor Gibson, 80 and still going strong.

Great day!

Fair to say, Grump, that Cowboy Bygraves will always be part of Royals folklore after he kicked three goals in three minutes (though I've heard some say the hat-trick came in the space of 96 seconds) in the 1972 Grand Final, the first I attended.
Did the Cowboy give you a blow-by-blow description of each goal?
He would've been handy in today's game, coincidentally against the Monts.

Gary tells anyone and everyone but it is a pleasure to talk to him

Gary was certainly one of my favourite Royals as a young bloke, Grump.
That's what makes so many ex-footballers great characters - their deeds become better with each passing year.
Given we only won the 1972 GF by 15 points (though the margin doesn't matter at the end of the day), the Cowboy's four goals made all the difference in a low-scoring game.
