The ressies had a good win and the colts although losing played better but there are some questions abt the capacity of some players to make the transition from community football to colts.
The colts games was a good hard game and Perth won with a little bit more skill and a willingness to intimidate. The intimidation was ok for the most part and by in large the EP were capable of dealing with it but there was a few instances of hesitation which allowed Perth to take the opportunity and goal. The best players for Perth are as reflected on the WAFL site as are the EP ones. For the highlight was watching the highly rated Hill in his duel with Louis Miller. It was hard, neither gave an inch and when Hill could he showed his talent but I think Lewie won the day. Yes there were some sly hits and bumps off the play but as I said they gave as good as they got, my only worry was a bit of kick off the play, kicking at any level is silly and not a thing a young player needs to do!
The ressies played a I feel that can, good movement and great teamwork. Perth were never out of it seemed to not be able to control the game for long enough at times. Mitch Fraser played 2nd game back from an ACL and was clearly a better player than a few others. There was some good contests and like the colts game it was willing and at times feisty but still both sides played well with the EP just being more poised when it needed.
The poise issue and an ability to control the tempo of the game was not limited to Perths reserves side.
