The boys did a great job against the top side yesterday and did themselves proud with their fight til'the last endeavour.

It was a great game by both sides and played at a high level.

Souths played well and looked to have the game plan to do the job but our boys stuck to plan and heeded the coaches comments about sticking to what they do and playing hard contested football. The last quarters saw what you expect from a top side with souths fighting back with the EP boys again sticking to the game plan and seeing the man or man efforts at training coming through, well done.

Great to see Connor De Campo play a great game after having an injury interrupted season, must have been my knee strapping ( ) well done to him, Dipper and Dobbo once again, the Amos boys are doing a great and Harry returning a really good effort.

Gday Grump, thanks again in 2016 for your EP colts reports as per previous seasons its one of the few bits of reporting one can find. Any chance of getting a mid season opinion from you regarding who you think might take out the flag, the standout kids and any smokies you believe are a chance of getting drafted. How is the overall level and health of the colts comp in 2016? Thanks in anticipation, DW

DW I think that all the WAFL clubs should be congratulated on the standard of Colts football and the development of players in an ever decreasing demographic. When you have clubs having to group 15's 16's etc together across zones to have enough players for a comp it is very hard.

I am never sure who to comment on due to not really enough about this player or that one.

As far as clubs go, Perth are the ones to beat but they can be, Souths are just very good but as shown they are beatable but will improve even more when they get their state players back.

I must admit that draft prospects are like picking out a nugget amongst a whole lot of iron pyrites.

I will try to do something over then next week, Ok!

Are the good numbers still coming through from Ellenbrook area.Can remember reading the budget last year and seeing the large contribution in the Ep colts from there.

Very good and the work by the Ellenbrook folk is bearing rewards, lot of boys in the 16's, 15's and 14's, really great.

Grump your colts boys were a touch too good for boys on the weekend. Your third quarter was the deciding factor kicking 4or 5 goals to SF 0 so they were coming from along way back in the last quarter and just could not get their noses in front.

Going thru both lists on the weekend I did note the numbers of 19 year olds in both teams and EP had 7 and SF had 3. SF had three colts eligible lads playing up in the reserves and league in Donaldson second game of league football and Pickett and Collard who have been progressing nicely in the reserves all year. It will be interesting to see what all clubs will do with the state players coming back from the carnival. It has been good to see SF in recent years push a few lads up and IMO if all is well with both Elliot and Bolton both should be pushed thru to the senior squad and should play some league football toward the end of the season.

I think that Souths will be there with Perth and it will be a game worth watching for anyone who appreciates good football.

dont discount Swans or Claremont, both have players playing up in league or reserves currently who will qualify to come back.

I don't or won't it is just that having seen the teams play the ones mentioned seem to me to have that bit more. I don't even discount us as an outside chance.
