Larry Bird wrote: Last year probably half that number, which I think is exciting for young players from Ellenbrook knowing that they can play WAFL colts. I agree league berths are hard to come by but the opportunity to develop in the reserves or to later move to other clubs is viable. I think the lack of respect shown to reserves football is a danger to the WAFL going forward. Players are not happy to play a couple of years in the reserves to improve physically. I note the players that transferred from EP to Swans last year are playing reserves. Can I have your feedback on why that is the case. Also Tony Kalimaris who moved to Swans for league football is he injured?

Highly optimistic your suggestion that is was around 5 last season. Particularly difficult to find league spots when about 18 each week are completely spoken for. With respect to the three players who transferred from "East Perth" they know they have a chance to play league footy at Swans; something which was patently not the case at "East Perth".

"East Perth" is a mere shell of a club and belittling players who have moved from "East Perth" does you very little credit and is a pretty poor alternative to facing up to the realities of what "East Perth" has become.

Larry Bird wrote: On another train of thought, does it benefit the colts competition and the WAFL in general to have an unequal Colts competition. How weak would you like EP colts to be. Perhaps if Swans play Claremont every year on the grand final that is healthy for a viable WAFL in the future. Or would you like Ellenbrook to go to Subiaco perhaps maybe just the fact that it's EP is a problem.

LB I can remember a colts' game where we kicked 11 points for the entire game and 2 goals 1 against Claremont. Perhaps you might like to answer how an host club alignment where two clubs are so advantaged over the non-aligned clubs is good for the WAFL competition? How is it good for the WAFL competition that a club like East Perth benefits to the tune of a half a million dollars through the host club alignment?

Freeze would have you believe McGough went out of his own accord down at Condemned Park as was portrayed in the local media! :pinch:

So tell me MO who wrote Malaxos resignation letter again?......perhaps it is the same one you have inked up for your good mate Harding..........

Blessing in disguise then hey BH that Macca was "retired" v Cl by the powers above at EF......good to see you and MO are privy to such info..

..perhaps EF miidfield can be regenerated with some youth like SD have done of late......because in all honesty if the likes of Ridley, Daniels Dean etc can hold their own at a higher level I am more confident EF youngsters in Perry, Parish, Snadden, Harrold and Bennett certainly could.......hopefully Dodd takes the plunge because it was pretty obvious Malaxos wasnt going to.....time will tell though I guess.......

It is very hard to have a conversation with people who are completely without the ability for rational debate. Hence its my own fault you know what you get in a Swans or WP thread. Two questions which I also know won't be answered. 1. Which comment I made belittled the ex EP players. 2. What in God names does Swans having a poor Colts game against Claremont have to do with anything.

Firstly LB which posters on here are incapable of having a rational debate? The implication from your question about them playing reserves is patently obvious.

Which colts' game against Claremont are you talking about? It was a match against Subiaco in I think 1984 when we kicked only 11 points.

If you want to have a rational debate would you like me to start a topic about how bad the host club alignment is to the WAFL competition?

Also, you might like to repudiate BH's assertion that you were at Basso on Saturday given you have said that you don't go to games at Basso.

If East Perth were actually half decent at identifying and developing youth then they wouldn't have had to sell their soul!
What I'd actually like is for clubs to get off their asses and build successful programmes and pathways like swans have done in the last 10 years and the competition would be in a lot better state!

MD that is a bit unfair and also a little ill informed.

We had 4 boys in the initial 18's squad, one injured a wrist and was shed, one played and the others, the 2 african lads continued to train, three additional under aged boys have been added for next years process. The 16's has 4 or 5 boys in it.

We have had a fair few boys come up from the SW and play so I think the process we have is ok but the pool of talent in the metro area diminishing with the age demographics of the area, that is a bit of swings and roundabouts so nothing we can do! The 16's community comp is like a lot of clubs growing smaller each 2 or 3 years.

Swans have done a great job with a not disimlar pool, but a different approach, a good one that is of great benefit to them.

I think that we do alright when you consider that we have blooded quite few boys over the past 18 months with the alignment being an issue.
We live in a time where intelligent people are being silenced so stupid people won't be offended

I find Swan42 and BH very hard work so unwavering in their beliefs even when clearly wrong. EP colts premiership 2006 and 2000 most recently. I have discussed myself listening to the broadcast on 720 with the very good caller Peter Spencer.
