As for the colts players coming through the ranks to play league I would suggest that there is little difference between us and most other clubs. The will get there if they are good enough and do the work, 4 debutantes last year!

Their chances are actually greater now than before the alignment, we cannot recruit like we did, half the VFL played for us, in one game not so long ago there 15 non EP players in the team with most of that years colts leaving to play elsewhere.

Now the Reserves side and league side have to be EP players and WCE players, NO RECRUITS!

The Colts players from last year have moved up and the previous years are mostly still there, the ones that have left have left for other WAFL clubs or moved on like most years.

The mass walkout and exodus that all and sundry predicted has not happened and is not likely. I would suggest you look to the other clubs who are still buying players and see how many of their colts leave due to a lack of opportunity. Swans is an obvious exception but if memory serves the Tiggers, Gummy's and even the crabs lose more players than we are!

Grump, not sure if you see beyond the Colts, but "the mass exodus" has occurred and is occurring at the senior levels!

As far as what is happening above the colts - Lets discuss the exodus you allege has not occurred.

Having watched all those young guys in most of their games at all levels I feel I can comment. They are mostly fairly limited players some not even reserves players. How much of that is due to poor development is open for discussion. I will agree that the turnover is higher than normal but the sad thing is these guys will not even be missed.

Larry, what do you mean "some not even reserves players"? All of those listed were reserve or league. This is where I get frustrated at the number of royals supporters with their heads in the sand about the affect the alignment is having on the club.

I listed 21 players and no doubt missed a few that have also walked or are about to walk (waiting on the club to release them under negotiation). This is not simply a "high turnover", it is delusional to think that. So what you are saying is if ep were not aligned with the eagles, we could accommodate the loss of these players quite readily as they would "not even be missed"?

Quite a large number of these players, if at any other club would have without question been able to make a successful transition to regular league football. Why? Because the competitive option and spots would have been available. This IS NOT going to happen at ep, hence why they are walking.
