Good weekend for us , having trouble coming to terms with the colts result , cvhoccies to boiled lollies comes to mind,

Ressies played very well and yes i know the opposition was poor, in fact pathetic but they went about the business very well, no slackeningkept the mind on the plan and carried it out.

League was great from my perspective another colts player making his debut, Mitch Howlett, woulda shoulda been earlier but for a few injuries.

agreed grump.all the guys who have come in have been good.Fraser, boyes, jacob payne and now howlett.bennell has also had a chance to show his value.i don't know what they were thinking when they recruited kyanga only slowed his development.

Ha Astro the only problem is a lot of player playing in the G7 will be wearing their colours next year.. Will hate to see Huchty and Mellington not wearing WP colours.
Shit Hope Hilly doesnt have a bad run... or Lecras maybe instead of playing for us will have to play for EP..

I think that there will be a lot of players leaving, the 2 big names I don't think will be, the ressies and young players will be stating, which means there will be a bundle of b+'s and c graders up for grabs.

As one of the young players said 'why wouldn't I stay and play in front of the AFL recruiters every week'.

AFL recruiters attend all WAFL games especially the colts games. If anything, you would expect to see more eagles and dockers staff at East Perth and Peel league games next year to watch their players and maybe less recruiters. Lets hope the recruiters don't lose track of watching some of the actual talent coming through although it's incredible to see how many of them leave after the colts games. With the way the East Perth league and ressies are going, it's also a good position for the G7 to look at potential recruits.

Well said, may be new to this site but I am a long term WAFL/Subi supporter and this site and most of the people on it are symbolic of the problems the WAFL has. It isn't the 70's anymore, the comp has to move on. But everytime there is any change in the WAFL there is an outcry of "why change what we have done for years". I mean really, why complain about the start time changing by 5 lousy minutes? Still I rocked up to the first game starting 5 minutes earlier and had to hear moans about it.

I hate the idea of the alignment, I hate the notion that we can recruit a guy to WA, pay to set him up here and then lose him to EP the next year. But instead of taking the "this is the end of the WAFL" track that most club leaders are taking I am looking forward to playing Sinclair and the other 21 next year and grinding the other 21 into the dirt. Instead of staying home and crying about it when Subi play EP next year I will be going just for the chance that we annihilate the bastards. Just like last time, a win over a team filled with AFL listed players was better than most.

Would love the guys in charge of the WAFL to take the lead like the guys in charge of the SANFL took, stop listening to the complainers and make changes that will benefit the comp in the future. Fixture games around the AFL games. Play blockbusters on a Friday night.

i understand what you say Barney. i dont mind some change but not for the sake of it. i too dont like the alignment but that is a reality. many waflers on here (that is barely 0.05% of the people who attend games) hate anything other that saturday afternoon games. i am one of those but i agree we must play games around afl fixtures when warranted. and only when warranted.

So the competition just doesn't try playing on different days to try and attract the 1000's of football fans that are busy playing/coaching/watching amateur football or busy working on Saturdays?

The WAFL isn't in a position where they can just wait around for people to come to them, they need to start bringing people to the game.

I can just see in 5-10 years time when the new stadium is built the same people complaining now will be complaining then that the competition didn't do enough to attract those on AFL waiting lists to the WAFL. It is a huge opportunity just going down the drain at the moment. Can't blame them though, everytime they try something the establishment complain about change and everything is changed back.
