Very happy to get the four points yesterday, Lucky, particularly after we didn't excel in March's "Dancing With Your Sister" series.
I thought the boys really dug deep in the last quarter, given that, for a large part of the game, Subi moved the ball far more efficiently and always seemed to have extra numbers at the ball.
As always, Scott Jones was superb, including roving several of his own ruck knocks.
We were certainly helped by the Lions' inaccuracy and the loss of their big ruckman, Jacob Wagenknecht (wagon train in German, maybe?), in the second quarter.
However, Sam van Diemen (ankle injury, I believe) was gone for the day by quarter-time (we seemed to lose a player in the first quarter in almost every game at Leederville last year), so our rotations were impacted.
I agree that our forward options look promising, particularly with Mitch Schofield negotiating his first competition game in 11 months, in the reserves, while our defence was resolute and we still have Corey Watts and Kye Willcocks to return.
In time, I'm confident our revamped midfield will be more than useful, particularly when Angus Scott returns.

Good win, it was good to not get destroyed by Schumacher in particular and also Crowden. Burgiel hurt us, having Stephen's available probably would have covered them this year

Yep,you more than matched us in the midfield DG,and there in lies the problem for us to get back into the thick of finals action, and its a crying shame(points cap permitting off course)that we couldn’t keep Crowden and Schumacher for 1 more season,as we definitely possess the forward firepower this season,to have gone one better than last year.I thought Archie May looked dangerous for you guys, and I thought our homegrown debutants, Cassidy and Milner showed a bit of promise, and at least we had half the side from our zones,as opposed to the average 7 or 8 last season.

Scrappy win,the black ducks are really struggling, but we’ll take it.Looking forward to our first real test on Good Friday, but I’m feeling a bit more confident about playing finals, with South and Tigers appearing to be the only real standouts

It was a funny type of game, Lucky, insofar as we kicked 11.4 to the scoring end (tech school) and restricted Swans to a solitary behind.
Yet, Swans played some very impressive footy in the third quarter and set up the loose man with ease, making me think it was going to be a very tight last quarter.
However, for the second week in a row, we kept the opposition goalless in the final term, although the defence didn't have a lot to do.
In hindsight, our dogged first quarter - despite frittering away countless early chances - paved the way for victory.
What most impressed me was our marking power and accuracy (after quarter-time) up forward.
Having Mitch Schofield still to come back into the line-up fills me with optimism, while the return of the likes of Angus Scott, Corey Watts, Kye Willcocks and Shane Hille will be welcome.
And then there's Robbo, who will be a bonus if he can stay injury-free.
That said, the same 22 who've played in our opening two games have acquitted themselves well.
I thought ex-Swan Brad Fullgrabe's game on the dangerous Leigh Kohlmann was very impressive.

Agree 99% of your summary but there is no way that Robertson is worth a spot when we have young fellows in the reserves like Lindberg, Regan, Brooks and others who are far more worthy of a place in the ones.

Hard to get a gauge where we’re at on yesterday’s performance Arch, but at this stage I reckon we should be at the very least, finishing between 3rd and 5th,and Good Friday will give us a very good idea if we can get back to the final day in September.A win or narrow loss against the Tigers would be a great measuring stick, and I reckon Raykos in the midfield probably played his best game, and the Tigers will certainly provide a stern test in our most vulnerable area, but hopefully the boys pass that test with flying colours.I also liked the move of playing Graham further up the ground, which enables the burly Middleton to play deeper in attack, and with the dangerous Sebit and Medhat and Schofield waiting in the wings, and also Van Dieman who is a quality crumber,we may well have the most potent forward line in the league. Also thank god for our SWest production line,as I reckon we’ve unearthed a couple more future league stars in Cassidy and Milner.

Some difficult decisions to be made. When and if players come back into the team.
For Schofield to come back in we would have to  drop a tall  but who.
At the moment all are playing ok. We can play four tallish forwards in fine weather but with winter approaching i think you will only be able to play three but five  won't work.
For Wilcocks to come in you would think either Saunders or Baker would have to make way.
Hille is only three games away from life membership.but he might have to wait for a injury or drop a unlucky Cassidy.
Watts will take Milner's position
I can't see a role for Robbo except depth unless you drop Fullgrabbe who has improved year on year. Can't play him in the forward line and i don't fancy him as a midfielder.
Some unusual results on the week end and as been mentioned we will wait to see how good or ordinary we are.
