The horrendous umpiring decision in the dying seconds of the game, has thrown a serious “spanner in the works”regarding our top 3 hopes, particularly with the injuries in the last quarter of Brayshaw and Macreedie. How the hell the officiating umpire failed to pay the obvious free of Edwards crashing into Schumacher’s back beggars belief, and the officiating little nit wit obviously thought in his confused state that Watts had pushed Edwards in the back onto Schumacher, but the replay clearly showed that whatever contact he made was to his side, which is perfectly legal, and Edwards even mentioned in the post match interview that he thought the whistle had been blown for his contact with Schumacher.        Hopefully the boys can put the match behind them, which was a great spectacle, and stave of the threat of the Bulldogs this week, who will be no pushover, and get back on track to consolidate top 3 as another loss will leave us seriously vulnerable.

So having more shots at goal but converting at less than 50% had nothing to do with the result.

This sums up that final decision on Saturday, with Michael Palin in the role of the officiating WAFL umpires and Eric Idle starring as the East Perth Football Club.

Scene from Life of Brian (Monty Python) - Crucifixion? -Yes -Good... (youtube.com)

All tongue-in-cheek because we can't change the result and Swans' third quarter and Tom Edwards' six-goal performance were the difference.
Apologies if anybody is not a fan of Life of Brian or is offended (I'm a "collapsed Cathaholic" myself).

120 mins of football with constant turnovers and mistakes is never the issue SS when you can blame one umpiring decision as what the real issue was and the reason a game was lost.

There should be NO whinging from the Swans faithful. In our game very late in the last qtr the scores were tied and a Swans player soccered the ball at speed over the boundary in the pocket with not a player within 25m and the only maggot in Australia that didn't ping them was officiating that piece of play. We would have had a shot from 25m and who knows what would have happened, also the same maggot refused to play a holding the ball 15m out moments later when a Swans defender tried to run through 3 WP players !!!

No bad kicking is bad football which is something your club is playing plenty of…….reminiscent of your yesteryear S.S.

Yes Mr Viper I see that the so called Royal simpleton has concurred with you which should give you cold comfort, but if you assess the “120 minutes” in its entirety you’ll find that we outscored your mob 3 of the 4 quarters, albeit quite narrowly, and we did so with 2 men down in the last quarter, and my issue is the fact that the game did hinge on that horrendous free kick, where Edwards didn’t know why he received it,and even TV commentator Trent Cooper, who is a Swans man from way back, upon viewing the replay knew it wasn’t a free kick, and if the little garden gnome remembered the GOLDEN rule of umpiring, and that’s protecting the man in front,Schumacher would’ve taken his rightful free kick and with around 20 seconds to go,there’s a 99.9 percent chance the result would’ve been altered.

If you go through my 900 odd posts, you will not find any criticism of umpiring decisions, and unless you were one of the drunks wearing black and white beer goggles in the beer tent area near the scoreboard, not one person at the ground would’ve begrudged the umpire paying Schumacher a free kick(not even Edwards)and if that incompetent umpire made that howler halfway through the last quarter, and we had 10 to 15 minutes to rectify the situation, and couldn’t regain the lead I would cop it on the chin, but you can’t make an inexcusable blunder like that on virtually the last play of the day.
