I must confess at 3 quarter time after holding a measly 5 point lead,I thought we were no hope, particularly with the hurdle of kicking into a 3 to 4 goal breeze in the final stanza, but boy wasn’t I pleasantly surprised when we held on.That was a character building win and the most pleasing aspect was the efforts of our “homegrown”players.Kyle Willocks and Stan Wright stood up in the tough clinches at our under siege backline and Tommy Graham, who like his old man has a great pair of hands, surprisingly kicked all of his 4 goals from ground balls and is a very important player moving forward.Special mention has to be made to Jedd Edwarrds who battled manfully against the in form Teakle, and he managed to halve the ruck tap stats, and was also a bit of a presence around the ground, and I like the look of the lightly built kid Craven who was a lot quieter this week, but looks to have a bit of X factor, and Pebbles Ameduri was reinvented as a pressure forward several seasons ago,and he was fantastic as well.

Indeed, RL, yesterday was a tremendous victory against a very good opponent.
I shared your pessimism at three-quarter-time given our modest lead.
With the Fremantle town-end goals being the scoring end, I thought that we needed to be at least five goals in front at three-quarter-time to have any chance of winning.
We were 17 points up and on track to have the required lead halfway through the third quarter but allowed the Sharks to kick two unanswered goals.
To their immense credit, the boys really dug deep and gutsed it out in the last quarter to get us across the line.
Remarkably, according to our stats whiteboard at the huddle, East Freo had 20 inside-50s (the PerthNow online report said 23) to our two in the second quarter.
The second of those entries resulted in Tommy Medhat's goal, which I think gave the boys (and us anxious supporters) a real lift going into half-time.
I know our defence was questioned last year and may have once been our Achilles heel, but I think they are a fantastic back six and saved us time and again yesterday.
And we still have Nick Robertson and Jacob Msando, the latter who played reserves yesterday, to slot back in.
A learned WAFL historian friend of mine said that this was the first time Old Easts and Young Easts have played at Fremantle Oval since Round 13, 1952 (we won by 82 points that day, so it wasn't a cardiac-testing afternoon, unlike yesterday).
It's also the first time since 1977 that we've won twice at the port in the same season, though, of course, since Peel Thunder was admitted into the WAFL in 1997, teams have generally only been required to travel to each away venue once.

Yes Archie wins at that venue are few and far between, although I was there in ‘77 when we knocked them over.I also recall sitting in the back seat of my Uncles car as a cheeky 12 year old seeing the channel 7 news anchor Peter Waltham waiting along side us at the lights near the old dingo building on Stirling highway on the way back home.”Wally” was a well known Bulldogs man,and I couldn’t resist the urge to gleefully wave the Royals scarf towards him, which he noticed and he was predictably non impressed, and his expression was in keeping with his sombre looking tv persona, and I reckon he wouldn’t have looked out of place as an undertaker at Bowra and O’dea.

That's pure gold, RL, particularly seeing Peter Waltham in traffic near Bondy's (himself a South Fremantle man) famed dingo painting.
I do recall that Peter W was keen on his footy but didn't know that he was a South supporter.
These days, "Wally" does the Monday-Friday morning shift on Curtin FM, and he does appear to have shaken off his "Bowra & O'Dea" persona.
I also attended both our victories at Freo Oval in 1977 (in between those games, the Bulldogs beat us by 8 goals at Perth Oval) but I have 5-6 years on you and had just left school (coincidentally, the O'Dea brothers went to my old school).

Yep I have much to my surprise have heard “Wally”on Curtin fm where they play the golden oldies, and Jenny Seaton(née Clemesha) does the afternoon shift.I wouldn’t be surprised if they find a gig there for Gary Carvolth who was another prominent personality from yesteryear,(provided he’s still with us of course!)

I'm quite sure that Gary Carvolth, whom I recall is a keen Subiaco supporter, is still with us.
I believe Gary started his media career when he was in his teens, so he's probably not as old as we think.
Yes, I've heard Jenny Seaton's Curtin FM show immediately after Peter Waltham.
