Listening to him on the radio, Russell sounded like the type of guy that you would like to have a conversation with, no matter what the topic. According to people who knew him he was exactly the same person on and off the air and didn't have any of the airs and graces that people in the media often exhibit.
A very sad day. Condolences to his family and friends, particularly the East Perth people who knew him.
