Wow beat Melbourne United in Melbourne 96 - 93. Still, I watched a fair bit of the Sydney v Breakers game earlier and I think we will have our hands full against either of those teams.

Just saw the highlights and it was another Bryce Cotton masterclass, nailed a 3 pointer off the glass with 5 seconds left.

Yes a good effort by Cotton scoring the 27 points. Apparently had three 3-point shots and scoring with 2 of them. I think Cairns are going to be a handful as well this season.
The Wildcats next 5 or 6 matches are all Away.

Another impressive performance against an undermanned Illawarra who were without Josh Boon and lost their point guard Brooks to a serious ankle injury midway through the 3rd qtr. They keep marching on but I feel we are one serious injury away from being vulnerable. I think our top end is as good as any out there but if we lose any of Cotton, White, Kay or Hunt for any significant length of time we are in trouble.

I don’t rate Rhys Vague as a back up big man and Wagstaff is probably in his last year and don’t rate Steindel that highly either. Norton is a handy back up guard but doesn’t put big numbers up. Majok Majok not a big scorer either and terrible free throw shooter.

Brandt was a big loss in the off season DD, Hunt has some work to do yet to convince me he is in the same class, the rest of the starting 5 are all ticks.
Majok is a work in progress and a local Perth boy to replace Jervis, Norton is decent coming off the bench has good energy, Wagstaff has been a good reliable bench player for years, Vague shows promises at times but needs to step up and become more consistent, Steindl for me has been underwhelming and one dimensional and if he can’t hit his 3 pointers is almost a liability as he can’t really defend that well.
It’s a pity that young bloke who’s name escapes me has been injured all season so far as he could be exciting coming off the pine even for an 18yo.

Yep not only losing Angus Brandt but also Matt Knight in the last couple of years. I'm liking the look of Hunt, he's not your big monster or giant but he's agile and I think has good basketball smarts and is a pretty good finisher around the basket.

Looks like the Wildcats hierarchy has grown impatient with Dario Hunt as well and have today released him and signed 300 game NBA player Miles Plumlee as his replacement for the rest of this season.

Yep BH I thought it was a good move by Trevor Gleeson maybe trying to protect Dario from early foul trouble when he relegated him to the bench but that didn’t seem to work and he just became more frustrated and it probably effected other parts of his game.

Good to see them make a move but gee they’ve left til the death. This new bloke has to play all last 7 games to qualify for the finals which probably means if he gets injured they’ll have to at least have him on the bench. Looks a monster, I hope Plumlee isn’t closely related to Chumlee off Pawn Stars.
