Is disappointing to hear that Bryce Cotton has suddenly quit the Wildcats and the NBL with immediate effect according to the news.
Apparently was most grumpy about the pay cuts being imposed on players because of the current virus situation.
That has thrown the Wildcats into a large hole.
Too many ordinary people need to attend work every day of the working week and many instances also on weekends for far, far and far less than 200 grand a year.
Even a 50% decrease still leaves a 100 thousand a year salary! If people are telling me they can't live on a hundred grand a year - they are stark raving bonkers and mad!
However not clear what Cotton will do in future? Fairly certain he's not naturalised, maybe will head back to the US. Although that would be a bit dicey currently!
He will leave a lot of good memories and sad to hear his departure.

Losing Bryce Cotton is a huge loss to the Wildcats, he was a ripper point guard. :(

Off to Italy and was going to reduce down from $400k to $200K which when you compare to AFL and NRL footy players and the like is not a huge salary for the best player in the league. I wish him all the best and thank him for his contribution to the Wildcats.

Where did you hear he’s off to Italy BC? Can’t see them playing in front of crowds. I think Bryce is going to be disappointed when he learns the full extent of his options but why has the NBL slashed salaries by 50% when the season is over and not due to recommence until later in the year when hopefully things will be back to normal and crowds can attend?

I would have thought gaining Australian citizenship and representing Australia in Tokyo in 2021 was a big enough carrot and surely he can use his profile to make extra coin in the media or endorsing some products? And his wife is a Perth girl isn’t she and I think they have had a child?

Only thing I can think of that makes sense is he wants to go home to be closer to his family and maybe he can earn more in the G league over there?

Maybe Cotton become too upset with the cut and not thought it through? Would be putting himself in jeopardy going to Italy and playing wouldn't he? The situation is still very dicey over that part of the world. Obviously other players have accepted a salary decrease. Apparently had 1 year remaining on the contract. Maybe he was planning to leave after that expired, and the salary cut bought the decision forward sooner?
