I went BC, was a horrible game marred by silly turnovers from both sides. Bolton was bashed up and played probably his worst game by far for the club, he sulked and played for free kicks and displayed all his worst attributes. A stinker but he’ll bounce back. Outclassed in all areas by Subi again, outmuscled, outran, out everything.

AR...they're still missing Tom Lee and Ian Richardson up forward and Jared Hardisty in the midfield which are all significant in's when they get them back. ToOl can probably add a few more so Claremont will be thereabouts at the pointy end make no mistake.

went along and had a look, fantastic day for footy and no dickheads on the balconies. The signs were good in the first qtr with our intensity way up on the previous week, hard at the man and the footy, the tackling was terrific but our skills are still a worry. In the second it started to take a toll on the tiges as we completely closed up there space. You normally see them chip and run with good overlap but they could not do that as we had terrific coverage. Hoskins was doing a super job on Bolton, mind you he was slowed down a bit after a massive crunching tackle in the centre which saw take a long time to get up. He was clearly frustrated as he took a cheap shot at Hoskins behind play which saw Hosking on the deck for some time. Both teams were sniping a bit but it seems we did get under a number of players skins. our delivery into the forward line is still below standard as shown bu the massive inside 50 discrepancy but we butchered so many of them. Dela was getting a lot of the footy but his disposal was very poor, Sok had many opportunities, was marking anything that got near him but conversion was poor, should have had a handful. Kennedy was much improved from last week and got better as the game went on, Kitch was BOG really fierce at the footy, Horse had a reasonable game but popped up when needed, Powell's best game for the season and Marsh looked much more comfortable as he settles into the back 6. Borchet presented really well but delivery was woeful, he could have had 5 or 6 but 3 was a good return. Tiges came out all guns blazing in the third and closed it up to about 11 points at one stage but we steadied and got it back to 3 goals at 3/4 time, the last qtr was scrappy but we managed to run it out a bit better with a 4 goal margin. An improvement from the Souths game but given they had lee, Richo and Hardisty out, it should put it in a bit more perspective.

Peelmantle next week down at Centrelink stadium so I wont be at that one

Good summary SS...cheers. I believe Benny Newton had a good one too. We'll need all our inside mids to step up with Deluca departing most likely to Carlton.

Yes Benny was good as was Maxy but given we can get plenty of the ball, we have to use it far better if we are to get anywhere near Souths.
Carlton?? last I heard Sydney were the front runners, anyway seems he's going east, just hope he gets a decent contract with a good team who appreciates him, unlike Freo.
As I mentioned, we have Peelmantle next week and by all reports Bennel was nearly BOG with 30 touches and 2 goals, another task for Hoskins who must be full of confidence after completely shutting down Bolton.

Just heard from my bro who lives in Melb that Carlton have signed Deluca. At least he will be playing with one of the best mids in the business in Cripps, not sure about the rest of the team but he should get a decent run given their list.

Too true mate...but I thought the purpose of the midseason draft was to plug holes in your list due to long term injuries, retirements etc not to draft development players for the long term future.

This is cut and paste from the AFL website....

"Why is the Mid-Season Rookie Draft being introduced?

It's an effort to limit the impact of long-term injuries and premature retirements at AFL clubs.

Holding the draft midway through the season gives clubs the opportunity to replenish their lists for the back half of the campaign."
