But the mid season draft is just another disrespectful insult to state leagues. If AFL clubs cant manage their lists and cover injuries then too bad. They all have either reserves teams in SANFL, WAFL, Neafl or affiliate clubs like Peelmantle, they should only be able to top up mid season from those sources.

Spot on SS.
It is my understanding the WAFL clubs effected by this mid season draft will not even receive compensation from the vfl or their clubs either!

That's correct BH...they get nothing. The only potential mitigating factor is that the AFL club concerned can release the draftee to play finals for his state league club if his services aren't required...but the whole thing is still a bloody joke.

That's interesting... Deluca omitted. Sounds to me that's all she wrote for his career with Subi this year. Good luck to him but it still hurts... Good to see Newton, Rohde and Clanger back in.

I would say that whichever AFL club has signed Deluca up have forbidden him from playing with Subiaco this weekend due to the risk of injury I can only presume. As WAFL fans of different clubs we all have our views and differences but I think all of us would agree that the mid season draft is an abomination and another step in the dismantling of the State leagues

Disappointing from a supporters view but good luck to him, everyone will need to step up to cover his loss. Hope he isn't stuck playing seconds

LOL well there goes that AFL mid season draft conspiracy then....interesting that youngster Mayo gets dropped to Subi reserves, yet could find himself on an AFL list come Monday arvo....but agree the mid season draft is an abomination, though sounds like the VFL will provide the most draftees.....50K for 1/2 a season plus 20K if you get dumped at the seasons end is pretty tempting...pity the club getting poached get fark all tho...even 15K tsf fee would be handy to say the least

to be honest, in the old day days, players left as late as 30 June -- Peter Featherby for one.

Thanks Buddy for clearing that up, must have been at training as he appeared to run the Souths game out OK, massive loss as he is right up there with Horse and Bolton as the WAFL's best mid.
Leach seems the natural replacement as like Deluca he is fierce at the contest and has good skills but maybe not the same pace. beverly is a taller option so hopefully one of those two will get a gig, although with newton back, he will be first choice. Great to see Clang back, his experience and enthusiasm has been sorely missed and his assistance with the ruck can give Dela more time as a mid where he is at his best.

Anyone know if Lee and Richardson are coming back in for the Tiges? 2 of the best forwards going around. If some of our backs play like they did last week those 2 could take us apart.
