At risk of being castigated by Sean the Bogan, I think this will be a cracking game. Perth have a slim chance of playing finals by beating Subi and hope that FART gets over WART. That alone should be enough to motivate the Dees into giving it everything. Subi on the other hand will want to go through the qualifying rounds undefeated but at the same time, not getting injuries or reports. There's also a few Subi blokes like Miller, Borchet, Stevenson playing for their spots in the second semi. Schofield will also want winning form going into the pointy end so all in all I think it will be a beauty. The weather for next Saturday isn't looking all that great at the minute but hopefully it will be fine enough not to impact on the contest. Subi but only just.

I'm not exactly sure what 'heavy loading' is but final bound teams do it this time of the year I understand and it can lead to leaden performances sometimes. Let's hope that is what happens to Sube this week.

Yes I think that's exactly what Schofield and the S&C guys will be doing StT. Loading up training with heaps of match simulations, set plays and aerobic work before tapering a bit to freshen up for week 2 of the finals....so you're quite correct...the extra workload could impact on this week's game.

Fingers crossed my end BC, but realistically class should prevail.

BC -- we need to win this game to equal EF's record in 1946 -- it is as important as a win in the grand final win would be.

You have to give credit to other posters, includding 'Swan 42 and Bazza', whom said we would go close to the record. I said before the season started that this was a stronger side because of the addition Clarke.

The Demons have pushed us this year so you never know on the day.

AR...we'll have to agree to disagree on the outcome of this week. I couldn't care less if we get beaten by Perth as long as we win the flag. Of course it will be nice for the players to break a long standing record but I think if you gave them a choice they'd take a premiership any day of the week.

As for Sean and Bazza...yes I think they were pretty good in tipping the season's outcome from a long way back. At the beginning of the season I thought we'd be top 2 or thereabouts considering we were beaten by Peel and pushed hard by WP in the preseason games but never thought we'd have a chance of going through undefeated. But as was shown the last 2 years, it means diddly if we don't win the flag.

BC -- I agree, I thought it was unlikely -- that, of course, is why, the win next week is so important from my point of view. Our club holds the record for wooden spoons, as you know, next week is the opportunity to hold the record -- together with EF -- for something positive. Never forget that, old son.

Still no Rhys Waters but Phelan back which is good news. Benny Newton out with a leg I think but it didn't look serious as he did it last week and played the game out....hopefully just precautionary. The 22 will most likely include the first 4 shown on interchange. Subi by 30 points.
