DG -- People are just paying their respects -- I think everyone would agree we should have won the game, one has to try and not be too critical of individual players. We made a lot of errors, but the three which cost us were:

the kick across the gorund in the backline
getting caught holding the ball in the back line
knocking the ball out of bounds in the back line.

I didn't hang around for the presentations as I think I would have spewed seeing Freo get WAFL premiership medallions but did Horse make a few comments in his speech that weren't shall we say PC?

Congrats to the ressie boys great win and well done to the seniors and all involved for an almost flawless home and away season. Top job by old east today too!

BC I left also, for the same reasons, would be very surprising if he did, he has more class than that.

Firstly congrats to the ressies, a really unexpected and meritorious win against a Souths team that dominated the home and away season. Atrocious conditions and a really physical and entertaining contest. The Subi boys held their cool even when Souths came charging at them in the 3rd, they steadied in the last with terrific defensive pressure and the game was iced when razor kicked an amazing goal from deep in the pocket.

Cant expect to win games if you don't take your chances, our inaccuracy killed us 5-12 to 8-5 after 1/4 time.
I thought the effort cant be questioned but the execution was not up to Freo's level, they were far more effective with their disposals, far more direct and their general ball handling was far cleaner than ours. A lot has been said about us having more inside 50's and more disposals than Freo, that's easily explained as Freo consistently flooded so we were forced to chip it around the outside, inevitably coughing it up or bombing it in only for Freo to mark and kick it back outside the 50 where on many occasions they had few players so we chipped it again or bombed it in, similar to the prelim where Souths stats were higher than ours. Their defensive flood was very effective, too many talls for us to counter. Our attack on the ball and the player was very strong, there were a lot of sore Freo players at the end, but given Dawson, who started very well, went off early with an ankle and 3 others including DeLuca were limited with minor knocks, they still managed to run over us in the end. The 2 late 3rd qtr goals after we had battled to a 13 point lead was the turning point. We threw everything at them for about 15mins in the last but were totally gassed by then, Freo's fulltimers showed the fitness gulf between a well rested AFL team, even with some injury concerns and 1 down on the bench and the biggest fittest strongest WAFL team.

Horse, was fantastic, Kitchen and Cockie were brutal in the packs, Dela worked really hard all over the ground but we were absolutely smashed in the hitouts 102 to 22, Phez exceeded all my expectations showing just how much class he has, Sokol was pretty much our only effective forward who could find some space in the flood, Locks did a good job on Taberner and Gus, apart from a bad brain fade in the last was very good. Halligan and Ryan were disappointing, Liams efforts wont enhance his draft prospects much but he was double and triple teamed most of the game which normally would see other forwards loose but Freos effective flood had most options covered.

So while the Subi haters can settle back with a self satisfied smile, the positives if any from this game is that there is no longer any place for the WAFC to hide in regard to finals player qualifications which have gifted Peelmantle 2 premierships. Congrats to ROB and the other non listed boys, I hope you have a great night, you boys and the ones kicked out of the finals by the freo contingent have earned it.

So long Subi oval, bring on 2018.

Seriously? I am by no means a fan of Subiaco, but let me point out the obvious. Subiaco lost one match against WAFL teams this year. Their only two losses were against a team that had 15/22 of an AFL team. Peel not their coach won the GF; it was Fremantle that won the WAFL GF this year, as they did last year. The real Peel with their coach featured in the game against Peel last year and in a year where we battled to kick 4-5 goals we kicked around 18 goals.

SS from all reports there may be a change to the number of WA domiciled AFL players that will be available to the aligned WAFL clubs next year. However, SS there is a very likely move to address and redress Subiaco's dominance as well. Subiaco lost one game in the qualifying games; let's not forget that.
