I just flicked through the 2015 Annual Report which is on the SFC website...no actual numbers on profit/loss for this year although Bones did say we strengthened our overall financial position with a profitable year. A few numbers would be nice so as members we can see exactly how we're travelling. I did notice we have around 50 support staff in total for the league made up of coaches, medical staff including 3 doctors, trainers, strength and conditioning, runners and so on...then even more for the ressies plus a whole heap involved with the colts and development squads.... not sure how many AFL clubs have but it can't be too many more than that.

BC the size or reported size of the support department is just the difference between the rest of the WAFL and Subiaco, even EP with the alignment cannot afford that number and most of the people below the head trainer for the league don't get paid, it is usually part of their compulsory community work for the degree.

The alignment does mean the league have a few WCE staff but they are only there for the WCE players, the Dr does assist with all players.

Grump...a big chunk of those support staff were trainer and training night assistants so I would imagine they were all volunteers as well...but it's still a big group all up.

BC, with all due respect, and not talking football support staff, i.e. volunteers, your full time staff would be at least twice the size of other clubs.
Just count them.
Outside the football department PFC has 3 staff including the CEO plus one part time accounts man.
Subiaco has 8.
We won't talk about the Football Department.
It's not the size of the dog in the fight. It's the size of the fight in the dog.
Winning isn't everything. It's the ONLY THING !!!!!!

Correct BC,a lot of the support staff are volunteers and I wouldn't think that unproven coaches such as reserves coachShane Paap and colts coach Wrigley would be on much coin at all.Does anybody know who are the coaches at these levels for next season?Personally I wasn't overly impressed with the lack of tactics and verbal communication skills exhibited by Paap this year.Ryan Redford did a super job with the ressies the previous year and this was suitably acknowledged with his appointment to the senior coaching panel in 2015.

You cannot possibly group East Perth or Peel for that matter alongside the other 6 clubs, in S & C just for one example I know for a fact that each and every one of the East Perth players train with a GPS unit, tracking their loads etc whereas at Swans we have 2 units for the WHOLE club!

I would never doubt the veracity of what you post but having been at training for the league a couple of times of late I don't think that I have seen GPS monitors on all the players on the track, in fact I don't think I have seen ay on the EP players, aligned players well that is another issue.

In a couple of colts games the boys in the state squads were tracked but that was at the behest of the state folk, sure that happens everywhere.

Like I said I know for a fact, and it definitely grates on the SD conditioning staff!

the other thing that I found interesting in the 2015 annual report was the AFL corporate functions didn't make budget during the home and away games. The report pointed out that WCE and Freo didn't sell all their corporate boxes in 2015 either as a sign the economy is slowing down and expenditure on such things by businesses has tightened. what got Subi over the line was having 4 home finals which apparently produced a better than expected result but with 2 years to go on the deal...there's a chance the AFL seats arrangement won't be the money spinner it has in the past.
