Seagull we will have to agree to disagree. I did not wish to use terms such as "thug" but if you think McKenna is a thug then you had better pin the same tag on Deluca.
Subiaco certainly got in the faces of the Perth players right from the start a tactic that obviously backfired because the Demons won the quarter fighting fire with fire.
No doubt your players were instructed to stop those tactics and play the ball which enabled them to get on top and show how good a team they are....as I have said before, the best in the comp, so they don't need to player bovver boys with the wooden spooners.
As for Deluca his cowardly act was that of a thug. At least if Billings hits a player he does it face to face not from behind. Both of them are undisciplined which is a shame because they don't need to be. Both are good players.

smokey....you live in a parallel universe that all Perth supporters seem to operate in. Billings is a sniper and a gutless thug. He has never whacked anyone face to face in all the times I've seen him. He hits blokes in packs and behind play. The sooner he gets deregistered the better. McKenna actually showed a bit on Saturday. He got the very tough task of running with Menegola and was obviously instructed to put him off his game by niggling and getting a few sly ones in. Thats fair enough...Crowley made a career out of it ..but the Subi guys responded in kind as they should. I didn't see the Deluca incident but if it was as you say, he'll get a holiday and deservedly so. IMO McKenna should concentrate on the ball a bit more because he could develop into a better than average midfielder but at the moment he's focussing too much on the physical side of his game.

And certain Subi players aren't focussing too much on the physical aspect ??? As I told Seagull, we will have to agree to disagree on this one. I maintain that Subi did not respond, they instigated.
If Billings is a gutless thug as you say then Deluca surely is also. To hit a bloke from behind 50 metres off the ball makes you a gutless thug.

To put things into perspective we should probably have a better understanding of what led up to the Deluca and Wolfenden incident. I don't know and will stand corrected if anyone saw what happened to cause such an act...but do agree, no matter what the justification, hitting blokes behind the play is not on. although in saying that, Wolfenden is no stranger to that sort of thing as I recall Pat Travers did likewise to him up at Dampier when the ferals were playing the bogans a few years ago...so maybe Wolfenden is also to blame in some small part...thats not an excuse for Deluca but could be an explanation of sorts.

I think you're right Leedy and if it pans out that Deluca did whack him behind play without a lot of provocation then he deserves to get a long holiday...I guess it will all come out at the tribunal. it takes two to tango but must admit that any behind the play stuff is not a good look and can't think of too many mitigating circumstances that would justify such an act.

I see on the WAFL site that Deluca was reprimanded which he accepted. As I didn't see the incident it suggests it wasn't as bad as some on here led us to believe or the tirbunal was as weak as pi$$....probably a combination of both for mine.

The tribunal have been very wishy washy and consistenty take a very light stick to most reports unless it's a "Billings" style king hit which obviously Deluca's was not, but it was off the play so he can count himself very lucky, he is pretty vital to our structures with his enormous defensive side to his role as a small forward.

There was nothing in it and if there was one would think he would have been pinged big time especially seeing he's been up a few times b4 ???
