I thought I'd wait till Monday to post on the game so that my frustration levels have subsided a bit and can present a slightly more balanced view.

Quite an average game to watch given South's constantly flooded our forward 50. there were regularly 36 players in Subi's forward half and that did result in a very low scoring game with our guys cramped for space which may explain the poor goal shooting given the conditions were near perfect for footy. On the positive side South's tactics which resulted in dozens and dozens of packs and bounce downs did help our cause as it gave the boys regular breathers which was critical given we only had one interchange from early in the second qtr.

Really gutsy effort from the boys to gut run it out and keep the Doggies at bay. If South's were ever gifted an opportunity to win a game it was this game given the 3 early injuries and an amazing free kick count of 24 to 12 in their favor. That bloke Parry is a joke and obviously has an axe to grind with the club given his pathetically unprofessional attitude as he came off the ground to some jeers from the Subi supporters.

What I find hard to understand is that Subi has the 2nd or third worst free kicks against count in the comp and we sit 3 games clear on top with a 9-1 win loss record. Now a win loss record like that clearly indicates that a team is predominantly and consistently first to the ball which usually means you get some consideration from the umps, not in our case so it's hard to understand what is going on with the umpires.

Anyway, back to the game, I had Dela as our best, he did it everywhere on the ground, tapouts, high marking, great work on the ground and kicked a couple of goals so clearly our best followed by Twoemy who did his usual sweeping across half back and delivered the ball with precision, others to shine were Halligan on a really tough day for forwards his 3 were a major difference in the contest, Deluca despite being a bit crook guts it out till the end and Lockyer, Menagola and Hancock all did well. Madut continues his steady improvement and is finally taking some good grabs and is getting a bit more confident with his kicking, all this goes with his vastly improved tapwork, a real work in progress is this lad and has heaps of potential.

Reports are that Rumba is a good chance to get up for the Claremont game but not so for Robbo who has been in great form, but his loss will be covered by the return of Horse and possibly Mahoney to the mids.

Massive challenge next week down on that showgrounds paddock as along with us Claremont are the form side of the comp on a 5 game winning streak, they have top shelf rucks and a forward line with size and talent, young McAdam has been in scintillating form and is clearly the best small forward in the comp at the moment plus Beau Maister is always a real handful at FF. Clearly game of the round and on channel Eagles as well.

Good summary SS. Perth did the same thing by putting massive numbers behind the ball and clogging up our front half. We just have to be patient, maintain possession and chip the ball around until something opens up. Good to get Horse back in and hopefully Boland will suit up for the Magoos. Blechy can't be far away either. The petticoats only having a six day break will help us but as you say, it should be a ripper based on current form.

I'm like you SS, needed a few days to recover from that. I have never been so irritated by umpiring - it was shocking - and Subi copped it all day. The way Ashton Hams and Schloithe play for frees above all else irritates me too - and the bloody umpires fell for it every time. Do they look at reviews of their performances? I saw some bloke (Umpire advisor/coach?) out talking to them at 3/4 time and there were lots of shoulder shrugging and arms held outstretched with quizzical looks???

I couldn't help but wonder why Hams was playing that way - always thought he was good enough to not bother with that crap. I thought the game was a ripper in the first quarter - but then turned into an over officiated bloody mess.

Blech did not play at all on Saturday. Played really well in the ressies the previous week.

I also heard Boland will definitely be back next week - and maybe straight into the league.

Shloithe, hams two of the worst. Ive never seen fyfe do it once if he did hed rack up 40 plus. In the derby hams ducked so early for one he was lying on the ground before the guy touched him, he looked ridiculous. Stand up and play you #$/^&* duckers!

Interesting to read the comments on this thread about Umpire Parry. I am not one to comment on umpiring as I think a poor umpire generally impacts on both teams and the better team generally rises above this. However some of my fellow Swans supporters have been very outspoken about the standard of umpiring consistently for some time now and despite what some people might think, it hasn't just been when Swans have lost a game.

Usually what happens is they get shouted down by other teams supporters as being sore losers. However I am seeing the same sorts of comments being expressed here by Subiaco supporters and the silence is deafening from other fans I must say. Is it only OK to complain about umpiring when you are winning most games or is there perhaps a grain of truth in what the Swans supporters have been saying all along? i.e: that some umpires have it in for some teams?????? Surely not.......

umps and turn overs apparently are the root of all evil mikeh  ......more so for some clubs than others  .....

TBH....The umpiring is crap..... tell us something new.....I'm more concerned about the double agents within a club who keep turning the ball over to aid the oppositions scoreline.......since most of EF goals were the result of SD turnovers on Sat mikeh..... which SD player/s are the double agents at SD then?......
