BC wrote: I thought we were pretty good although turned the ball over a bit too much. Dela was good for his first hit out in a month. I thought Kitchin, Fez and Mahoney did well through the midfield. Yarran was well held. Others stepped up to kick goals which was good meaning we dont have to rely on then same few each week. The backs were solid and thought Twomey, Lockyer and of course Rumba did a great job on their talls. Cary didn't fire a shot and Geappen did a few things but was generally quiet. We copped a couple of injuries too in Stevenson, Halligan and Waters. The last two played on but Stevo didn't take any further part. I also noticed Scott Worthington in a moon boot which isnt great. Hopefully we'll get Horse back after the break. Does anyone know how Menegola is tracking?
BC I think the wind which was an absolute gale at times played havoc with both teams, the number of flour bag punts by both teams showed the ball was being moved between hands and foot in the ball drop. Kitchen was clearly BOG closely followed by Phez. The mids have done an outstanding job without the general in the middle, thought we might struggle without Horses strong leadership but others have stood up to cover his loss.
Article in todays paper interviewed Schoey who said Horse, Boland & Menagola will be right to go after the double bye, would expect all to have at least 2 runs in the 2's first, no need to rush them back with the current lads doing everything right and it would be a strong show of support for these so called "2nd" tier boys if those 3 top shelf players had to really fight their way back in.
Stevo did another ACL so he's gone for the season, such a shame as he was in great form playing up forward and down back, very versatile player, Wortho looks like an ankle but would be 3-4 weeks at best guess, the other 2 should be fine after the break.
Love seeing Deluca back in the pocket, his ferocity at the contest is almost frightening at times and 3 goals in terrible conditions was sensational. Really enjoying Clangers season so far, playing up forward and in the ruck he is hard to match up on, with such a huge tank most defenders cant go with him all day. Swans commitment cant be questioned, just couldn't compete with the more experienced bigger bodies and their skills were way off compared to previous games I've seen.
The lad that played on Yazz completely had his measure, just discipline old fashion blanket back play, never gave him any space. Good lesson for Yazz, he needs to work harder for longer periods before the AFL recruiters will take a serious look at him, but cant question his sublime skills when he's on.
State game next week should have a good spread of Subi boys in the team, maybe as many as 6 or 7, but the team list looks really well balanced with plenty of experience strong bodies and pace which will count on the open spaces at Lathlain. Great decision to play it there, always a great oval to watch footy at.
