The new boys once again impressed me, they are really standing up & need to keep doing so. Liked Robo's game, Mahoney was good, how good was his 30 metre handball to set up a goal in the 3rd? Rumble played a very good game. Really wasn't one passenger today. Good timing for the bye as Twomey & Kennedy looked very sore at the end. Stevo is a good forward he finished with 6, where do we play him when Boland & Della come back in? I think Garcia is giving us more than Josh Deluca did last year, he is impressive.
Agree DG, we played some sublime footy at times, but after halftime we were playing against 22 red and white witches hats. Souths played a very confusing style, they seemed reluctant to kick the ball and put some trust into their forwards to take contested grabs, one time they handballed at least 6 times inside their 50 when any of those players could have had a shot, the inevitable result was a turnover. Subi on the other hand play a simple direct style straight down the corridor only switching when no options present themselves. Schoey preaches the KISS principle when it comes to game plans.
Great contest in the ruck between Higgins and Madut, Impressed with Higgins, he is a monster, not all that tall at 191 but a solid 105 k's any prepared to throw it about, he does have some good pace for a big bloke, Madut was good using his huge leap over the top of Higgins on occasions and his tackling and second efforts are getting better each game. He's been thrown in at the deep end with Stocks out for the season and that should turn out to be a massive positive as his development has had to be fast tracked.
Great game by Robbo 30+ quality possessions, Phez is just so consistent same for Mahoney & Kitchen. We are building a massive midfield unit with Horse, Blech, Deluca and Menagola to come into the team along with Dela, biggest issue is who to leave out when all these guys apart from Menagola and Blech are up fit and firing after the bye. All, the boys who have come in have done a great job and it's exciting that all the guys we have rotated through FF in Bolands absence have done the job in Clanger, Stevo and Yaz. On yaz he is the typical classic half forward who goes missing for big chunks of the game but in the space of 5 minutes can rip the game apart, he's so hard to cover for a full game.
Some sore boys around the group so a week off is perfectly times. Will miss the Freo & Perth games while on hols, both should be good contests especially against Freo down at taxpayers stadium they will be hard to beat.
