Constantly hitting the centre.
The centre not just the centre square.
Those were the days.

I hope one day that style of big kicking in from a point can return.

It would need a team to have a couple of big blokes who are absolutely superb in the air. Imagine, the time, effort and energy a team could save if they could get the ball into the centre with one kick and have two blokes who were near impossible to beat overhead waiting for the kick-in.

Surprised this tactic has not returned with the quick rebound from kickouts (not having to wait forflag signals). Would be greta to see this employed every now and then. Would make the game more interesting rather than the constant chip pass.

If I remember correctly we traded Ken Screech and JD Dimmer for Alex Hamilton and Archie Duda amomg a few others. Great service out of Alex Hamilton. Always thought he was our Barry Cable.

The earliest Full Backs i can remember at Subi were Brad Lohoar, Mitch Fussell & Rod Brown back in the early 80's then along came Michael Crutchfield & Clint Brown from the mid 80's onward with Monaghan taking over from them until the mid 90's. In my time it would be either C.Brown, Rumble or Crutchfield. Clint Brown was an underrated player for Subi, good footballer at either end of the ground.

I kind of remember Clint Brown as a CHB? Could be wrong. He had great duels with East Freos Clinton Browning.

Not a bad back line with zanoti cructhy and C Brown matching up on Efs Bennett, Waterman and Browning

Good memory for a basso nancy boy Beas...Mitch Fussell was becoming a really good full back before he broke his leg. Crutchfield for me.

Clinton Browning loved playing West Perth, always seemed to kill us. One day many moons ago Paul Mifka had come back from a short retirement, was playing in 2's and was taken off to play league with Michael Jeps a late withdrawal. Wasn't long before he was in the action on Browning who was killing WP and went on to kick a swag.

You're on the money there DG about Mitch Fussell. As I recall he was heading towards a berth in state side whne he broke his leg at Freo Oval I think...maybe wrong but I have distant memory of him doing it down at the members end where Freo rooms are now.
