Great list...who shall we nominate as subis greatest state rep. I will nominate Bucky because of his role in those great Tuesday afternoon games between 83_86 and also Feathers for his sheer longevity. Can't recall Feathers having a huge impact in state games like he did in the WAFL but still one of my all time favourites.

and I'll give a mention to macnish for his goal square hang in 86, a memorable moment. and I think it was him who did a memorable dance right in front of the goal umpire waiting for him to signal a goal, really summed up the passion state footy had back then.

I think it was Allan Jeans who said that Buckenara was the best big game player he ever coached. I reckon he would have been in WA's best in 9 of those 11 state games.

Old timers tell me that Laurie Kettlewell was an absolute champion.

Only one state game in the brilliant but brief career of Keith Watt and that was opposed to Leigh Matthews and co. I've seen some footage of that but can't find it now.

I will nominate Dan Parker lol. No disrespect but we must have been well down on numbers for that game!

Yeah there's 3 or 4 dodgy selections there.

And when you think that Neil Taylor couldn't crack a single state game. Must be close to being the best player never to represent WA.

to illustrate how the WCE drop their support for the state of Origin concept, I remember one year a subi/wce player went from playing reserves for subi to playing state of origin in the space of a couple of weeks. I can't remember who it was (maybe Langdon) but it is amazing how we invented the concept and yet the it has become the pinnacle for NRL players.
