3 good quarters of footy against a very game but poorly skilled Perth unit. Germo obviously wants them to play on and handball at every opportunity, it ain't working too well so far but if they persist and improve their ball handling it will come together.
As for us, the first 3 qtrs would indicate some measure of improved form from the previous 3 games, but the last qtr was horrible. We wanted to abandon the fast direct game plan and instead go backwards sideways, over use it so eventually we coughed it up and were outplayed by Perth to the tune of 2.3 to 02. Disappointing given every percentage point will count at the end of the season. We sit in 4th 15% behind EF and a game but better % than Cl in 3rd.
Welcome return to form by Kitch with 27, Schoey was all class again with 22 and 4 goals, Ash was solid as was Giro, Zac was good up against the the 2 big Perth blokes, we broke even in the hit outs but Zac was the best big man around the ground, probably should have had 3 goals but seems to get under the ball sometimes in set shots. Borch was getting to the ball but not clunking those marks and missed a couple of sitters, appears to lack confidence, so a week or 2 in the ressies might help, given Kentfield is back to be the back up ruckman.
Huge test next week against the Ferals who are now clear flag favourites, it's theirs to lose imho. There Rolls Royce (or is it Ferrari) midfield will take some stopping, cant tag all of them, maybe tag Schumaker and Brayshaw with Morgan and a Hickmont, or even Tholstrop who stopped Bolton earlier in the season. Will be all about trying to get enough clearences and then delivery to the forwards. Expect Zac to have the better of the hitouts but their big bloke Jed ... whatever is doing ok apparently and their mids are smart enough to rove to Zac.
Rank outsiders but it's a 2 horse race so ya never know.
