My old man wasn't a member in 73 and couldn't get into the club rooms. So he and my uncle drove to leederville and had a beer in the West Perth rooms pretending to be down hearted.  

hahaha. That's pretty funny JL. I guess all of us who were around at the time have stories to tell not the least seeing grown men in the social club openly sobbing with joy to win a flag after 49 years. It's an occasion I'll never forget that's for sure and makes me so appreciative of the sustained success we've had over the last 20 years.

JL I wasn't a member back then either being a poor student, so I just walked with purpose straight into the social rooms. Everyone was high as a kite ... on joy that is so no one appeared to care who came in, all were welcome to celebrate the win.

SS, checked with the old man. Definitely refused entry into the rooms. He says at that time it was hard to get in to any club rooms. 

 

That's a shame, but I was a sneaky little bugger and got away with it.
Those were the days when clubrooms were regularly filled just by members, these days clubs cant afford to turn away any punters who are willing to spend a few bob over the bar. I must admit I do like the opportunity to take mates who support other clubs into our bar and vice versa when at their clubs.
