Good summary SS. Think it was Putty's best game. Not thst he was great. But useful. Alone got some crucial touches in the last quarter. He could be a player. Vanarsin? Looks like he's going to be a good player too. A bit of zip about him.

It's good to finally get a W in the results column but we're a long way off where we need to be to challenge the likes of Claremont and WP. Far too many errors both in skills and decision making. Coming out of defence and chipping the ball into the corridor is fine if you have an advantage but when it's 2 or 3 on one then it's not a great idea. We did that far too often and turned it over.

Our forward tackling pressure was abysmal with our combined forward line laying 7 tackles in total for the entire game. We had 51 inside 50s for 24 scoring shots which meant EP took it out 27 times and we only laid 7 tackles when they did with big Putt not laying a single tackle for the whole game. Not good enough.

We're very thin through the midfield with Vanirsen just his second game and the Hickmott's still learning so the sooner we get Harry Marsh back the better. The backs are good although Clinch is not of league standard as he is far too loose and his decision making at time is poor. Good to see Stainsby back where he belongs and Jordan Lockyer far better this week. I'm also not too keen on how far up the ground the backs position themselves when the ball is in our front half. We were caught out on the fast break a few times and were lucky not to be punished more severely than we were. Scott Hancock has some work to do there as the defensive coach.

Giro was terrific and must be in the Sandover conversation if he keeps going like this, Kitch always works very hard but had a part time hard tag in Greaves which kept his possession count down to around a dozen. Dela, Chad Harris, young Noah Ash had good games and obviously Sokol and Matera with 9 goals between them were our best forwards. A good win against a hard working opposition but we have a lot of improving to do before we can even start thinking about playing finals.

Given your outs and the past weeks struggles that was a bit more of the Subiaco oppositions expect, all three grades were worth the entry.

Yes agree Grump. They were three very evenly contested games. As for our outs, from last years GF side Mayo and Hayden Kennedy are both gone for the season, Clark and Martin to the AFL meaning we really only have Marsh, Braut and Atkinson to come back in. Three very good players I know, but all clubs would be missing at least three players at some point during the season so I'm not sure personnel is the issue given we've got quite a few back in the last couple of weeks.

I think it's more about attitude, work rate and skill level with some of the young guys coming through like Breman, Clinch, Putt, Ash, Vanirsen struggling to perform consistently at league level. It will probably come with time but at the moment, we're mid tier at best and not currently at the required level to challenge the better teams.

I thought Alone was good in the 4th, laid some good tackles and made a couple of good clearances into our fwd line when it counted. He still has a bit of work to do but is nuggety and hard at it, worth preserving with in the seniors imo

Some tough criticism BC, but I think fair. Skills are down and you're probably right about the tackling. Borchet is well off the pace, but some signs in the last. Breman's short kicking is poor. Long kicking very good. Not sure he tackles much but he leads well.
Robins shows a fair bit in the reserves in the tackling area and a smart player.

Any word on Kennedy? How's he going?
