Thanks for asking STD, he's improving week by week, kicked 3 v a reasonably good WCER team, was our leading scorer on the day, been getting 1's and two's, if he, as a small forward can get 2 or 3 a game then he's doing his job. It's rare for any player to regularly get 3 or more in our current era game, Sok can get bags of 5 or 6 but not consistently, he's averaging around 3 per game as most of the other leading forwards do in the WAFL.

150 game players probably don't  quit that easy. I don't blame young guys for playing amateurs if reserves doesn't float their boat, but it's not a great indication of persistence.

The other point is that a league team needs stability and league players need some support.

Just watching the excellent coverage of the Subiaco v South Fremantle game on Front Row Screens. The Lions are making the reining premiers look second rate and but for wasteful kicking would be over 10 goals in front. Looks to me as if normal service has been resumed after a few hiccups.

What a fantastic win by our boys. To keep Souths to 4.5 was testament to the excellent pressure by our mids on the ball carrier and superb lock down efforts by the defence. We were almost double inside 50s up to 3 qtr time and way ahead in disposals but bad kicking was keeping Souths in it. Kitch and Clark got plenty of it but for mine Harry Marsh was bog and Chad Harris not far behind. Marsh's work rate and preparedness to run hard up and down the ground to create options was first rate. I can't really single out anyone else as it was a brilliant team effort which saw Souths become very undisciplined towards the end. To make things even better, Jack Mayo played well in the two's kicking 3 goals and picking up an award in the after game.

Wasn't a pretty game at times, early on our ball use was poor but that improved markedly as the game progressed. Our pressure on their ball carriers was enormous, our tackling completely stifled their runners and caused turnover after turnover. I did notice how big a side they had, so many blokes in the195cm + range and they did look top heavy at times. The relentless pressure saw Souths discipline collapse in the last and they gave away a number of blatant silly free kicks. It's a long time since I've seen a Souths team do that, they are usually a very controlled unit.

The 44 point margin did not reflect our dominance after 1/4 time, 100 more disposals, 47 more marks 14 more tackles and 17 more inside 50's. With some better finishing the margin would have been well over 60, but any win over Souths is a good win.

Kitch, Marsh, Clark, Harris our best. Young Robbins continues to show that he has some real class, cant single out any defender as they were a solid as rock unit. We lost the tap outs as usual but I though Putt played really well doing better around the ground than their rucks, he's still a kid at 21 and has a big upside.

Next big challenge is Joondy next week, need to find a way to stop Keitel who is kicking bags every week. they are treavelling along very nicely, maybe a bit under the radar as everyone wants to talk about us, SF & CL, but I rate them as a major chance foir the flag, so we will need to bring the same pressure game to them to be in the game.

Yes, Harris was a stand out. Good player. I didn't notice kitch that much but he won a an award. Matera did too. He is strong and smart at wafl level, and getting better. Quick hands. Kicking for goal a weakness, but conditions were tough today.
Sokal was tough. Braut finding his feet as a forward. Martin is a class mover. Getting stronger. Needs to be disciplined. Not get frustrated. Robins is a good tackler. Good pressure. . If he could pick the ball up, he'd be a better player.
Bremen improving on the reserves. The two rucks competed well.
Souths were a weakened team today. Lots of inexperience. I wouldn't take expect them to play that way next time.

Yes both teams below full strength, Strom, Main & Higgins for Souths that I noticed, Kennedy, Dela, Borchet and throw in Powell, all in our best 22 when fit.

Watched the last half of the ressies, Mayo looks to be gaining confidence, had a real presence out on field, kicked 3 I think. Young Farone must be looked at again with 4, could easily come in for a fairly average Bailey Matera. Breman looked good as well, some players with genuine pace in the 2's, something Subi never seem to have much of.

I thought Bailey was a bit better today SS with 21 touches and a goal. Both Matera's don't do enough defensively for mine as they each laid 1 tackle today whereas young Robbins had 8 to give a defensive edge in the front half.  Max Walters still struggling a bit too with only 8 disposals but that's understandable I guess given what he's coming back from.  Maybe a run back in the two's for Max to get some form and a chance to give Golding a crack.

Atkinson is also on the outer and Beverly was back in the magoos today after a bit of time out. I agree Bailey Matera was pretty good today as was his bro who had 12 grabs, the same amount as big schlong from souths.
Not forgetting Maxy was probably bog last week
