Looks like a reasonably well balanced team, the backline is almost back to full strength with Lockyer, Kennedy, Gus, Heal, Braut and Stainsby if they line up that way. Would expect Heal to take Notte.  Still missing Powell, Matera and Maxy in the mids and Sok up forward so not quite back to full strength. Sounds like it will be a very wet day so Putt will likely miss out for an extra small/mid, will be a bit of a mud fest up there, keep it simple will be the key. Ch7 tv game.

I'd keep Putt in the team. Big body could come in handy. Good opportunity for him. Doesn't take too many marks in any case.

This should be a good one and hopefully the rain holds off long enough to get some decent footy in. Don't be surprised to see Brandon Matera as a late in although named as an emergency. With wet conditions, he could be very damaging. Subi by 20 points.

Anither brave effort by the boys. Back line held up well in the last when the tide seemed to be turning against us. Midfield got on top in the last. Putt keeps improving. Martin is class. Farone shows a lot. Jack B halved a few battles in the half forward line and that helped. Clark did enough  to get drafted. Hope not.

Harris liked the wet. Well organised team. Impressive win.

Yes. Johnny, subi again showed a lot of spirit today. Bassendean is one of the most colourful wafl experiences and today was fun out here.
It was great to see Lewis jetta still getting a kick and he landed a significant hit on delahunty that had the excellent subi big man out for the count for awhile.
Farone has real pace up forward and when bouchet went off, he looked our best avenue in the wet.
A really gutsy effort to hold off a fired up swans in the last quarter. This subi team could go all the way this year. Clark is another impressive player, he nailed a great running goal in the second quarter then treated us to a Jeff farmer-esq celebration that was....
Anyway, I love coming out here to basso. A genuine wafl and perth experience

Yes a good effort by both teams in trying conditions. For mine, Clark, Kitch, Dela, Marsh, Stainsby, Martin, Lockyer, Litherland all terrific contributors. Good to get the win up there but unfortunately our injury list continues to grow. Fortunately it looked like an ankle to Borchet rather than a knee but hopefully Sokol can't be too far away. As an aside, I watched the game on tv and for the life of me can't understand why they would have an ex Swans coach as a co-commentator. The entire call was focussed on Swans and Subi might as well not have been out there. It was like listening to Eddie McGuire call a Pies game only worse. The other thing is that Subi need to be more disciplined. To give away 22 frees to 9 is not ideal....hang on...that's right...we were at bogandean where those sort of stats aren't unusual.  It'll be interesting to see if there's anything out of Jetta's off the ball hit on Dela.  High contact, high impact, nowhere near the contest.  It's probably worth a week or two but knowing the WAFC it won't turn into a report.

Jetta was reported BC. Well done to your boys for digging deep in the wet conditions. Who was the ex Swans coach commentating?

Broadbridge I think it was, did he coach league or lower grades at Swans? I thought he was ok, gave plenty of praise to Subi in the first half but then did the same for Swans when that controlled the contest in the third.

Great first half by the boys while the conditions were reasonable, totally dominated the contest everywhere but on the scoreboard, we failed to turn our possession and inside 50 domination into goals, should have been at least 6 goals up at halftime, but credit to a very hard at it Swans team who were very efficient with a high scoring to inside 50 ratio. We over used the ball on many occasions but when we were direct we looked very good.

When the rain arrived we didn't adapt very well at all, continued to overuse the footy and our backs continued to zone off their opponents. When it's wet you should be going man on man all over the ground, Swans played very good aggressive wet weather footy, handled the ball less than us but far more efficiently and showed us how to play in those conditions.

Wardman must have read them the riot act at 3/4 time because we changed tack significantly and played simple straight forward wet weather footy, kick, soccer, knock forward, cut down the handballs and managed to lock the footy in the forward line for much of the quarter, Swans Palmer kicked an early goal around 4 minutes in then it was mostly Subi from then on. We managed 4 scores for 1.3 but that was enough against a very persistent Swans team who looked a bit cooked in the second half of the last qtr but there is a lot to like about them, some hard boys who dont take a backward step and got in our faces a bit after halftime and successfully distracted Dela in the 3rd qtr. The hit on Dela was a good old fashioned shirtfront shitmixer that really wouldn't raise an eyebrow in years gone past, Dela was up pretty quick and after a few minutes on the side lines came back on and was fine, but these days in could well cost Jett's a game or two being off the ball and a tinge high, reprimand or maybe a week at worst for mine.

Clark with 30 and 2 goals was our best, he is in rare form at the moment in all conditions which, despite being mid 20's must be getting some AFL attention, Marsh, Dela, Kitch, Locks, Gus, Kennedy and Harris were all good. Putt was good in the conditions, his around the ground game continues to improve and given he's only 20, has a bright future.

As for the umps, just as hard for them in those conditions, 22 frees to 9, yes we were undisciplined especially in the 3rd qtr, and most of those frees were there but it was the old situation of play on or a bounce for us, so many similar frees not paid.

Next week it's Peelmantle who coped a solid belt from Joondy down on their own dungheap so they will be fired up, one thing you can say about Peelmantle is that they show a modicum of respect for our comp and play to win every week. Depends on who's available, but Freo are getting a few more injured players back so will be a good test, thankfully we are back at Leedo not down at Centrelink paddock.

We must have been watching different broadcasts SS. Maybe you were getting the country version in York where they speak a bit slower and don't use big words. :-). The other observation I'd make is that it's time to send young Johnson back.  He's had a fair crack at it over the last 3 or so weeks but hasn't really delivered ...so maybe time to give a Jack Borchet or a Ben Golding a chance.  Also, does anyone know what's happened to young Aaron Breman?  He's still on our list but don't think I've seen him this year.

Yes BC just single syllables up here for us simple country folk please.
Have been wondering the same re Breman, doesn't appear on our injury list, looked the goods last year when he had a few games late in the fake season.

Jack Borchet and Golding would be the obvious replacements for the injured Borchet (yes it was an ankle) Jack's a bigger unit than his brother so plays a bit differently, Golding for me offers a bit more at this stage, agree on Johnson, looked a bit out of his depth at times, if Sok is fit for the Peelmantle game then Johnson should drop back to the 2's. Didn't see Narkle listed in the ressies, is he injured? Would love to see what he can do at league level, he very slight, but they said that about Notte and he's played 250, not that I'm suggesting he's in the same class.

Looks like Maxy and Powell are still a couple of weeks away, that was a massive crunch those 2 had so not surprised they are being carefully managed, both are absolutely essential for the back end of the season and finals.
