Pretty hard tough affair, we started slowly again, EF were all over us winning the centre breaks and we were out marked all over the place, Their big blokes particularly 29 I think took a swag of good contested marks, despite being well beaten at the centre Marsh and Kitch were working really hard. It all changes around in the second with 4 goals to Zip, we worked much harder on the spread and kept the footy away from their big blokes and played on at all opportunities. Forwards were working harder and creating more space. Third qtr was pretty dower footy, EF closed the game up and it got pretty physical and we went back to bombing the ball so their talls took control again and they won the qtr well, 4 goals to 2 to make it a 2 point game. As BC said the Marmion St - South end was very much the scoring end and so it proved as we ran over a tired EF team who seemed to lose the plot a bit with a series of undisciplined acts that ended with their #9 being booked for a fairly low blow on Chad Harris. Chad and few other Subi boys were getting into some EF players heads and they didn't deal with it well resulting in a few frees and 50's, but they did look fried. Another sign that the Subi group are very fit again. 5.8 in the last was not a great return for effort, that 33 point margin could well have been closer to 50++. our last 6 scoring shots were all behinds including 2 posters. That being said EF were very good for large parts of the first 3 qtrs, winning the first and 3rd qtrs but could not maintain that pressure considtently.
Good result given the outs, Maxy Walters only had 11 touches and a goal in the 2's but will be better for the run, may have been on limited minutes.
Massive test next week against a very good and very pacy Joondy team up on their sand patch, hard to gauge their win v an Eagles outfit thats more interested in team roles and game plan practice than winning games but WP are always a 3-4 goal better team up their and Keitel kicked another bag of 6. Frustrating seeing Lockyer and Heal on the sidelines, I understand heal is a couple of weeks away but dont know what Locks situation is, will need him to go with Keitel and we need some more pace in the mids as they have one of the better pacier mids groups going around. Maybe Braut might take on Keitel, he's a very strong bloke, has pace and is very good both sides, will also need Kennedy to do a lockdown on Knott who is lightening around the goals. Hope it's a fine day as it should be a very open fast affair with both sides skills on display.
