An operating profit of $129,697 was reported after early forecasts of a loss of around $400k before the season. Government subsidies of $702,800 obviously prevented another loss.
Beau Wardman spoke of the key areas where the team needs to improve and the club is addressing these areas. Losses to playing stock included Fimmano and Edwards-Baldwin as well as those previously mentioned on this site. Gains included Bailey Holt, Will Michelle, Ben Gasper, John Narkle and 14 colts now training with the league squad. Mention made of the need for a ruckman to support Dela and the club had attempted to get Ajang from East Perth and Goddard from Claremont unsuccessfully. Still looking but points to recruit are a problem. Club still not happy with the way they were treated by the WAFC after the 2019 season.

Yep..thanks Jim. Interesting stuff and I'm pleased a large chunk of the colts are progressing through. I'm also a bit confused as to where the team needs to improve given the injuries of last season coming off the back of a 90 point GF win in 2019. Maybe we just need to get our best 22 on the park. Horse and Benny Newton will be big losses through the midfield and we'll need to the likes of Hickmott to step up but elsewhere I think we're looking good down back and up forward.

$702K from Sco Mo a good hand.

Very interesting given SFFC only received 198K

Beau Wardman had a lot of stats for the season on how we ranked against all the other teams in the competition and we were number 9 in some areas which was his concern. I think disposal efficency was one of them so skills may need some work. Wardman explained some of these areas of concern with the high turnover of players during the season and the fact that by round 2 11 of our top 15 players were out of action! The new fitness guy Michael Dobbin has apparently made an early difference and the spruced up gym is getting used!
I was impressed by Wardman's contribution to the night and hopefully we bounce back in 2021.

Thanks Jjim, Big turnaround given the near half mill expected loss before covid arrived. the club should have had plenty of time to look at where the changes need to be made, even subi cant live with losses like that for too long.

"21 could be the last for a few more players like Dela, Kitch, Locks and Heal, so if that's the case they would all be super motivated to go out winners. Lots to look forward to with the youngsters, those who have played a few and those in the ressies and from last years flag colts. Still could be some recruiting after the AFL draft, interesting that they are trying to address the ruck situation with tries at Ajang and the CL boy. If we got a decent experienced ruckman it might encourage Dela to hang on for an extra season.

With that band of injured guys from last year getting a full pre-season under their belts we will be very competitive, full seasons from those guys will be vital given most other teams appear to have significantly improved their lists. Fingers crossed '21 should be a very competitive season.

Not sure about Holt and Narkle, Michell played colts at West Perth in 2014 and is 24 yo, Gasper from Swanborne is 20 yo. Those two are on our list on the clubs website.
