I contacted the club and received a very prompt response from Peter Capes who advised:

"SFC position is that no change to the cap until all competitions agree and the promised AFL increased funding is a reality. WAFC have put a proposal to the AFL for increased funding (in return for agreement to reduce the cap) that will be used to fund the WAFL. Lets see, sounds a bit like a threat to me."

Re the ressies:
"Strongly support the Reserves competition and there will be no change to that."

Re recruiting restrictions:
"Those rules were lifted last Thursday."

I asked about getting Zac Clarke back, he advised it's very unlikely, but are very hopeful on getting Josh Deluca back.

Maybe others can contact their clubs seeking their positions on the salary cap and ressies.

That bit doesn't make sense to me SS, increased funding for the WAFL in return for an agreement to reduce the salary cap??? WTF? How is that going to make the comp better?

So clubs will be able to better afford to pay their bills but will be restricted in getting the best players who will desert the WAFL for the SANFL or train one night a week for the same if not more $$ in the country.

If there is a way to strangle the WAFL the WAFC will do it.

Yeah that bit needs clarification given the AFL is supposed to be on it's financial last legs how will they increase funding to 2nd tier comps? Needs a joint statement from the 8 WAFL clubs as to what their position is, also talk with the SANFL on what their approach is.

SS going back to when the original rumour about the Reserves being removed came out at the start of the year Swans President Peter Hodyl was the only WAFL official I heard go on record to say SD want the Reserves to stay and will fight any attempts to remove them from the WAFC.
