Odds on GC have had discussions with Hardwick and that's the way it is going. Super talented list and young ready to go. New environment for Hardwick. No doubt a few Tigers will wander north.

It will be interesting to see how Hardwick reacts to the way that Dew was treated by the club. They were dishonest with him saying that they fully supported him while undermining him to the media behind his back. Dew and Hardwick played in a premiership together so he may want to have a think about whether he would take on the job working with such a duplicitous management group.

Yes it is a list with potential but Hardwick seems to be a man with a strong set of values and I wouldn't be surprised if he tells them to get stuffed and look for a job elsewhere.

As Southerner said GC is a love child of the AFL which has never taken off but they will throw everything at it to try and make it succeed. Their home games are mainly attended by ex Victorians supporting the opposition so their supporter base is still very limited in a rugby league stronghold.

I don't think Hardwick would give a stuff, all coaches know it is a performance-based job. But what a luxury hey AFL coaches find themselves in today. How many have been sacked and received another year or two's salary for doing nothing because their contract said so and these clubs sign them knowing there is a chance they will be paying out the final year or two for nothing.

The "sacked coach" often walks straight into a cushy job in the media or a well-paid assistant's role at another club while still receiving the salary they were on at the club that sacked them.

that's only the elite few who get that - the standard is 6 months pay , the clubs got that changed to allow for sackings
