The Libs have fallen below Labor for the first time since the election on the 2PP

Morrisons personal ratings have taken a tumble as well.

I reckon he probably got a raw deal fromt he start of the bush fires, but he just couldnt get the tone right media wise and struggled, some have the knack some just dont,

John Howard never took a single OS holiday while PM, I reckon there is a lesson in that.

Polls mean SFA at this stage of the electoral cycle.
Come to think of it after last years upset victory by the Libs, polls mean SFA at any stage of the electoral cycle.

The quiet Australian only knows one poll, the one on Election Day. All these polls do is get the opposition excited and make the media relevant.

Maybe ScoMo can billet Greta Thunberg in as an exchange student to The Lodge and she can school the PM and solve all our problems. Would be a bonus if she knows how to balance books as well.

Yeah, - he's got a lot of time to turn things around, public persona wise but to collapse in popularity to the point that Albo is preferred PM in a short space is quite a dive.

Btw whilst I agree polling has been unreliable recently, you may not of heard that the pollsters have recently changed their systems as a result of that, we will wait and see the result I guess.

Stand the Test wrote: In the past when I've seen Scott Morrison on TV I have thought he's okay, not great but okay.

Now I see a guy who wanted to be PM, the leader of our people, who took off overseas and was seriously shitty about having to come back. He still looks shitty to me.

Is it just me?

Or are the media just a pack of merciless hounds that will go to any length for a controversial story and attention grabber? The media aren’t satisfied unless they are affecting polls and getting someone sacked or demoted or forcing someone to step down .

They don’t want to talk about the economy, the scourge of drug and alcohol dependency and the impact is has on everyone’s day to day life. What about homelessness and the ugliness of that on the doorsteps of our cities and shopping centres? Out of control crime rates??

No no let’s focus on the timing of a father and husband who god forbid took a short holiday with his wife and kids just because he happens to be the Prime Minister. Memo: all future aspiring PM’s . Don’t you dare think of taking a holiday with your loved ones because the world will fall in if we have to rely on a deputy PM to cover your ass in the case of an emergency.

Even In this day and age of mental health and suicide awareness you need to realise this doesn’t apply to you. You are expected to be super human, almost abnormal.

I think what was a bad look for him DD was that the bushfires were well and truly up and running when he left to go to Hawaii. I'm amazed that he wasn't strongly instructed by his advisers to cancel the holiday.

TOO I think Australia needs to grow up a little and stop looking inwards at itself all the bloody time and stop letting the media pull their strings. Bush fires happen every year in Australia, only the post code changes. So every time a bushfire occurs a PM has to stay put is that the precedent now? A PM can't take a holiday in summer is that the message?

DD as the Prime Minister he has the ultimate responsibility for the governing of the country and one of this responsibilities is abt natural disasters and how we respond in-conjunction with state and local authorities. Personally him being holidays wherever is not the issue, the issue is that blind freddies dog could see that this was a bit extraordinary and required a response or management plan from on high and it did not happen.

You could ask the question where was the deputy PM who is usually at the helm when the chosen PM is away. (Probably helping the dishing out of the grants but that is another topic).

Morrison needed to react, his office needed to react and not do the nothing to see here action.

Since the disaster ( I think it can be called that) Morrison has been found to be wanting (in my opinion) and if he was an AFL footballer would have been caught holding the ball far to many times, he just did not show leadership and then when he did the reaction of the plan has again been found wanting!

Added to this the charities have also been found out and his reaction to that has not been flash again in my opinion.

All of the money should have been given to the agency best able to dish it out, best able to prove ID etc and work with the agencies on the ground.

The real issue for me is the alternative, I don't like the Liberals very much but the alternative nationally is woeful and I suspect would not have reacted any faster or better

I agree with what you are saying Grump but I guess we need to understand that historically the states co-ordinate responses to situations like these and request assistance from the federal government on a needs basis. NSW for instance took ages to ask the feds probably due to the fact the Minister for Emergency Services decided to take a family holiday in London in the middle of it all. Morrison has changed that arrangement now so that the Federal government will decide when to act and not wait for the states. I do agree however that optics is everything in politics and ScoMo sunning himself in Hawaii whilst the nation burned was not a good look.

All I will say is the fact that Scott Morrison is Prime Minister of this country is an indictment on how incompetent the Labor Party were in the last election. He comes across to me as an arrogant person not really in touch with your average joe on the street. He is still dancing to the tune of the right wingers in his party when it comes to climate change and is surrounded by accident prone ministers in both his own and the National party the latest example being Brigit Mckenzie. Not all his doing but the buck stops with him.
