And apparently the new sports ground is going to be called 'optus'!!!!
It's supposedly the new state of the art modern facility, and yet it's given that crappy name!
Should and could have a better name than that I would have thought. Human greed getting in the way.

Deals been done.

WAFC get 10 years with a Tax Payer Guarantee on the 10.3 Mill a year kick back, after that they are on their own, not idea for tax payers but better than a blank cheque.

Good article by Duffield in todays paper.

Pricing coming out soon on seats, apparently only about 20 bucks more than last years memberships.

Interested to see what stadium membership is worth, reckon they might be good value.

6000 guaranteed General Admission seats at every game, wasn't it to be 10,000 originally planned?

Nah that turned out to be a BS story , nothing signed as yet,,,

For mine, I don't care if they sell the same , but what would be wrong with Optus Perth Stadium?

I think everybody's a bit quick here to bag out the afl and wafc for playing hardball. Now I will admit I'm not too clued up on all the details of this business, but I do know that wa footy is in a bloody strong position at the moment with bugger all debt left on subi oval and strong income streams from having control over subi oval. And without WA footy the new stadium hasn't got a leg to stand on so I'm inclined to think that if they're not happy with the deal the government is offering, then good on them for holding off on signing.

Wtf should the Federal Government be paying?

And your right your not clued up on the details , the WAFC still owe $5 Million on Subiaco which the state gov has agreed to right off once they move. As for a strong position read Duffield's article today on rights and responsibilities on WA footballs finances...

The Federal Government have regularly contributed significant funding to other sports stadium developments:
Townsville Stadium - $100m
SCG - $50m
Adelaide Oval - $30m
Metricon Stadium - $36m
Simmonds Stadium - $14m
Blundstone Arena - $15m
Brookvale Oval - $10m
Aurora Stadium - $4m

Seems unusual that the federal government wouldn't contribute some funding to Perth Stadium.

If this list is correct then that is every state bar WA has had Federal funding towards new or upgraded stadiums.
What a disgrace and just a follow on from the gst debacle.
Any wonder there is always a murmur around seceding!

That's great but why should they when the biggest beneficiary the AFL hasn't put a single cent in?

In the main - they all look like upgrades on your list in any case.
