Wtf is going on?

The AFL are trying to dictate terms to the Gov about the Stadium, something they haven't spent a cent on.

The Government this week sent what sources yesterday labelled as a “final offer” in writing to the AFL. Under the offer, still being debated late yesterday, football would:

Receive a guaranteed $10.3 million a year for the first 10 years of the deal to fund WA football.

Have the deal independently reviewed after seven years.

Be able to access up to $10.3 million a year of money football generates at the stadium in the following 10 years.

Have about $5 million of debt remaining at Domain Stadium paid out by the Government.

AFL = Pigs looking for another trough

How many dozen million have they spent on the Gold Coast with no tangible result? Could have saved an eleven-figure sum there.

At least with GWS they are getting on-field performances and new grassroots clubs are forming in the region.

My contempt for the VPL is well known on this forum. Presumably, it is all the WAFL clubs' (G7) fault.

Given that the stadium is built primarily for the benefit of our AFL teams I am absolutely disgusted that they are double dipping here. The tax payers of WA should not be forking out for them.

Stop wasting money on the womens league and their stupid pointless international experiments and put it into grassroots.

What I think is really insulting is the federal government contributing bugger all.
I think everybody's a bit quick here to bag out the afl and wafc for playing hardball. Now I will admit I'm not too clued up on all the details of this business, but I do know that wa footy is in a bloody strong position at the moment with bugger all debt left on subi oval and strong income streams from having control over subi oval. And without WA footy the new stadium hasn't got a leg to stand on so I'm inclined to think that if they're not happy with the deal the government is offering, then good on them for holding off on signing.

100% correct TOO.
We have all criticised the WAFC over the years but in this case they (we hope at least) were holding out for the best possible deal for WA Football long term and they were dealing with the inept current state government too it must be remembered.
My only concern is when I read that the AFL had got involved in the negotiations  another organisation much like the Federal Govt that hasnt put 1 red cent into the construction of the new Stadium so really they would be best served just keeping their noses completely out of it (not too mention the trough)!
