It takes a special talent such as Roger Rasheed to make Basil Zempilas sound like a competent tennis commentator.

The embarrassment that is Roger Rasheed the commentator is "doing his best work" during the Hopman Cup now.
Also, could I have $100 for every time the commentators mention Federer's name in the match Gasquet vs Sock today. I reckon it would be upwards of $1,000 so far. |

Lift your game Basil; what a pathetic commentator if you can't get a simple score right. His claim that Gasquet has never won the first set against Sock is patent nonsense when the first match was Jack Sock 67(4) 76(5) 64.
Are you trying to make Roger Rasheed look better? |

Grassy I didn't hear Gabriel's comments about Kyrgios; but what I will say, and in no way am I defending some of Kyrgios's behaviour, there is a degree of rank hypocrisy regarding some of the media commentary in criticising his behaviour. Of particular note is those commentators who criticise Kyrgios and are so effusive in their praise of the Australian cricketers. The same cricket team that in general in the past 20 odd years have been appalling in the sledging and poor behaviour. I would also suggest that they have a look at Sam Groth's last game in his last match and compare nad contrast with their criticism of Kyrgios and Tomic. I also suggest that they have a long hard look at how and what Andy Murray does in his matches NOW and compare and contrast with their comments about Kyrgios. To reiterate I am not suggesting that on occasions that Kyrgios's behaviour is acceptable; but the key is to see whether there is a continuing trend towards improved behaviour. I believe over a period of time that there will be an improvement. Finally if you are going to compare Kyrgios's behaviour with that of John McEnroe's behaviour there is no question that McEnroe's bhaviour was by far and away much more unacceptable. |

42 please do not ever put the Australian cricket team and some numpty tennis hack in the same sentence ever again! One side has delivered 5 World Cup wins, been world number 1 many times over in the last 20 years, despite being outplayed at times has always tried to the very end and has the respect of the cricket world etc whilst the other side of the equation has achieved absolutely stuff all, made an absolute goose of himself too many times to remember and most embarrassingly has given up numerous times in matches when it all got a bit too hard! |

BH put simply: the Australian Cricket team's behaviour over the past 20 odd years has been appalling. Winning by no means excuses their behaviour. I would be hard pressed to name one long term member of the Australian cricket team in the past 20 years that could be used by coaches of junior cricket teams as role models unless the role is one of a boorish cricket player. I would also question the "respect of the cricket world". I would point out also that Nick Kyrgios's current ranking is exceptional in the context of today's tennis rankings. |

How about Mike Hussey, Simon Katich, Chris Rogers, Ed Cowan, Shane Watson, Adam Voges, Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc, Steve Smith, Mark Taylor, Adam Gilchrist, Jason Gillespie etc?. Depends on what standards of behaviour you expect from a cricketer but I would have thought none of these guys would have behaved on a cricket field in the same manner as Kyrgios has on the tennis court. Sure the Australian team as a whole has definitely had its poor moments over the last 20 years but to generalise and refer to everybody in those teams as a sledging boor is a gross generalisation.

42 It doesn't say much for the sport of tennis if a buffoon like that who gives up in games at the drop of a hat can be ranked in the top 30! |
