This came after the 4 Corners expose on Live Baiting,Dogs being slaughtered when considered no good and other practices exposed by an Inquiry into that Industry.

The New South Wales,Queensland and Victorian Industries were the States exposed, the latter two are going on,despite that expose. The New South Wales Industry have no intention in taking this lying down and will fight the Baird Government's Decision, tooth and Nail.

Whether they can honestly say, they have cleaned up their Industry and got rid of their Cowboys is another matter.

News travels slow over here since that expose, but since I haven't heard of any improvement in those 3 States,I don't bet on the Dishlickers from those States. One might suspect the dodgy practices happen elsewhere, but unless I hear otherwise,I still have a flutter on the local dogs.

But if they get exposed to any great extent, well then, all the Bets are Off!

Plenty of torrents of water to go under the bridge here.Could be a Nice old Barney amongst Conservative Politicians brewing here, with Barnaby Joyce throwing his support behind the NSW Greyhound Industry despite admitting he had not read the Report into the Industry and had no intention of reading the Report.

No wonder I call him Barnaby Jones.

Circus Clown!

And you also if you think some states dont do live kills.

But until there's PROOF,not suspicions,it's business as usual outside of Victoria,Queensland and New South Wales.

As I have posted a year back or so when the shit hit the fan over east it happened here in the past Grassy. A previous boss of mine was a prominent owner who won some bloody big races around the country and he always let me know when his dogs had a livey in the lead up to the weekend races. Having said that it was usually when a dog had lost form over a period of time to attempt to reinvigorate the dog's appetite for racing. The good dogs tended not to need it. If they didn't return to form after a livey rarely would they persist with the dog which usually meant end of days for the animal. Must admit at the time it wasn't the livey part of the industry that bothered me so much as to how easily the dogs were disposed of and destroyed if they were no good. Can only hope they have cleaned their act up in the sport since then. My gut feeling is it is still happening however thats only my gut talking. Honestly hope I'm wrong.

Fair enough Grassy and agreed. Its kinda like brushing all muslims with the terrorist brush. All trainers/owners have the potential to live bait but in reality I'm sure very few do. Most love there dogs as pets, especially when they are winning a few.

It is up to each state to weed them out and get rid of them,NO MATTER how popular they might be to everyone.

If it's systemic, which it seemed to be in New South Wales, then that Greyhound Body had a Major Responsibility to clean things up,which it seemingly did not. They were asking for trouble and they got it.

Was it a Kneejerk reaction from Mike Baird and company?I think not.Possibly was in the ACT,but then I didn't see what practices were exposed there.

Still a lot of water to go under the bridge here.

Grassy from my understanding Baird closed the greyhounds down because of the number of dogs that were put down NOT the live baiting. Interesting if the same criteria was applied to the thoroughbred industry. It won't of course because of the financial impact if the thoroughbred industry was closed down.

Perhaps Baird could have introduced a minimum 5 year gaol sentence for anyone involved in live baiting. Ensured that all dogs must be tracked from birth to death. Ensured that there were a limit to the number of litters allowed per dog etc.
