What a great ploy from Labor, the tilt was never on and was just a way of rocketing McGowan into the headlines and also getting the support vote from the public who dont want any more leaders knifed in the back. Everyone knows who he is now and Smith took one for the team. Grand work I say!

Nice spin SD but Labor just aren't smart enough to create that scenario. It was a dead set grab for power by Sleazy Steve who, because he was from that era of Fed labor pollies, considered it his birthright to take over state politics and engross us all with his "undoubted" talents. Completely over estimated his own worth and abilities. McGowan is an honest plodder but clearly the best that labor has got to offer. Not saying there's much better on the other side, we are so poorly served by all pollies at the moment.

Old smithy musthave the interpersonal skills of a cardboard box, might of been a idea to make a few phone calls to get the numbers first, instead walked away looking like a GOOSE, he was supposed to be a big time numbers man.

But at least, they've done their best to keep their Coalition Bastards Honest. And the ALP.

So did the Greens, but the populace will never accept them in greater numbers.

Well then,Mr McGowan. How about repealing that Act,put it on the Backburner and refer it to a Legislative Council,as Ken Travers suggested?Wasn't it clear to you when Scaffidi and Barnett crowed about it passing through the Council, her joining the ALP was not in her plans?

Unless you are getting something out of the Deal? No?'Repeal the Act then!

How the fark have the ALP and the Greens kept the LNP honest ?

What Act would that be Wembo? Not the bloody City of Perth Act again??? lol

Grassy wrote: Read it again Bazza. You got that premise in reverse.I Commended the Nats for keeping the Major Parties honest. As far as they could, with only a handful of MP's in both Houses.

Problem was,the Nats had 5,1 Green,3Libs(1 paired) crossing the floor. Not enough to hold the Premier and most Libs to account.

Oops, where the ALP go?That's right skimming that Bill in a headlong rush to pass a Bill, beat Col in the stampede to secure her Pre-selection.Now things are what they are now,no point in David Templeman jumping up and down about that inquiry about that Teflon Mayor. If the Libs continue to drag their chains on this, the ALP have one thing to do.2 in fact.First, admit their mistake, second, combine with the Nats to overturn after at the next election.

Can't do it in the Lower House Right now.

Jay Weatherill was spot on yesterday during an interview on 5AA in Adelaide when he said
"Speaking on FIVEaa breakfast on Thursday, Premier Jay Weatherill sought to belittle his opponents, mockingly referring to the Liberals as a “party of retired farmers and failed businessmen”. Mr Weatherill made the comments while launching a scathing attack on opposition leader Steven Marshall’s 2036 plan. “I think it will give people some comfort that they made the right decision at the last election,” Mr Weatherill said. “It’s got nothing in it. This is the problem with it – it’s just empty. It’s one of the fundamental problems with the Liberal Party: they don’t actually have a capacity to design high-quality public policy. “They’re a party of retired farmers and failed businessmen, and a few apparatchiks hanging around Christopher Pyne. “They really don’t have capacity to offer much. I’d prefer not to waste my time thinking about them,” he said.

Senior Seagull wrote: The labor party, be it at national or state level really cant help themselves avoid their own self destructive tendencies.

State labor just about have the Libs on the canvas if they can stick solid and not shoot themselves in their collective feet. Really, the drovers dog should be able to lead labor to Govt at the next state election but they seem subconsciously not to want to take that next step. This is a massive free kick for the Libs both at State and nationally. WA voters are traditionally conservative and don't need too many excuses not to jump ship. Smith is a self serving sleazy tosser who was deeply involved in the Crudd Ju-liar regimes and assassinations, something people wont forget. He is clearly putting his own interests ahead of that of the party he purports to support. The libs may just about be laughing all the way back into a third term.

SS "Ju-liar" really. Now document all the LIES, BROKEN PROMISES and scandals of the Barnett Government.

jeez SD...if you're being serious then you're just as delusional as the pollies with egos the size of all outdoors. i have no doubt someone within Labor's caucus tapped smith on the shoulder for reasons unknown and smith then fluffed up his feathers and said yeah...i'd make a bloody good premier...let's do it with the opportunity to being parachuted into the state's top job just too good to miss. they're all the same on every side of politics...it's an ego trip.

BC how do you rate Emperor Barnetts LIES,BROKEN PROMISES and ECONOMIC VANDALISM and INCOMPETENCE?
