From todays West
Code-hopping rugby union player Karmichael Hunt is facing charges of supplying cocaine, along with Gold Coast NRL footballers Beau Falloon and Jamie Dowling.
Hunt, 28, a former NRL and AFL player, is due to face Southport Magistrates Court with Falloon, Dowling and an as yet unnamed woman on March 5.
His three-code sporting career could be over if he is found guilty of the charges.
The Queensland Reds issued a statement on Friday evening confirming Hunt would be stood down from the side's Super Rugby match against the Western Force at Suncorp Stadium on Saturday.
It plunges the Reds into further crisis following their 47-3 thrashing by the Brumbies last Friday.
Dowling and Falloon's arrest is the last thing the embattled Titans need after an off-season marred by off-field indiscretions.
The club is still looking for a major sponsor and has now been kicked out of their training base at Gold Coast's prestigious Southport School.
Titans chief executive Graham Annesley confirmed Falloon and Dowling had both been stood down following their arrests and that the club would no longer be training at the exclusive private school where they had only moved to in September following the departure from their Robina base.
"The board and management of the club acknowledges that under these circumstances it is not appropriate for the team's training facilities to be based in an education facility among impressionable young people," Annesley said.
"As such we will make immediate plans to relocate to an alternate venue.
"We unreservedly apologise to the school, our members, sponsors, corporate partners, and other stakeholders who have been let down or impacted by these unexpected and unacceptable developments."
Falloon is the reigning Titans NRL player of the year while young star Dowling, 24, was on the comeback trail after a knee injury sidelined him for the entire 2014 campaign.
The news is the latest blow for the Titans, who have already sacked young utility Paul Carter for a drink driving offence and had to fine both Greg Bird and James Roberts for separate off-field incidents in the past few months.
The latest trouble to hit the club is also likely to hamper their bid to recruit Manly star Daly Cherry-Evans on a three-year, $3 million deal.
The Queensland Crime and Corruption Commission released a statement on Friday morning saying it had charged three men and a woman as part of an investigation into a cocaine trafficking syndicate in southeast Queensland.
The arrests come less than two months after former international rugby league player Jason Smith and ex-North Sydney and Wests Tigers fullback Matt Seers were charged with supplying drugs in separate arrests.
It's unknown at this stage if all the arrests are linked.

Do these guys lose all common sence when they achieve certain sporting status????

They dont have it to start with, then mix with blockheads at "most" footy clubs ( afl rugby etc), so no hope of learning it there

It doesn't matter which code they come from it is all bad news for all sports that it is happening. What sort of effect would this have on kids who have looked up Hunt from all codes, AFL,NRL and Rugby Union.

Cos it aint marketed anywhere in Aus as aussie rules anymore it is marketed as AFL. As per do you play soccer rugby or AFL

We know it is Aussie rules and if we don't tell people that they will continue to say AFL.
Is the WAFL marketed as AFL!!!!! I don't think so, so let's get it right.

No BUT if someone comes from over qld or syd, and played wafl, they would say he plays afl, not wafl. signs on lamposts say "play afl", not play aussie rules

Quite right Anchorman, We play Aussie Rules either at AFL ( the elite level), WAFL, SANFL, or any country league or school. AFL is only for AFL level. Most complaints appear to be about AFL players & not lower levels.

To the broader community ( that is NOT footy diehards like us) it is referred to as "he plays AFL" The aussie rules mentatlity is as i say for footy diehards.

Really don't see the issue here. Aussie is simply an abbreviation for Australian, so technically the AFL probably should be the Australian Rules Football League or ARFL. However the "R" is too easily confused with Rugby, so for me AFL is fine because avoids any confusion.

ummmm whats the chance of getting back to the topic??

Personally I think COCAINE trafficing, selling, using etc in the AFL, Football, RUGBY, community etc is a bigger issue than the correct placement and usage of the term 'AFL'

But thats just me .... :S

By all means begin a new topic on the unnunciation and use for the abreviated sport terms..many seem to be enthused from it
