Police were attempting to stop a car about 1:20am this morning, but said the female driver sped away from them. She lost control of the car at the corner of Roberts Road and Haydn Bunton Drive and slammed into the limestone and brick gates. Causing significant damage to the heritage listed gates and the vehicle.
When police inspected the car, they found a range of allegedly stolen household items.
The crash caused significant damage to the art deco gates which were constructed in 1935, and entered onto the State Heritage Register in 2000.
The structure is unstable and SES volunteers were called in to assist in securing it.

Subiaco Mayor Henderson described the damage as
"It's a real tragedy for football in general," she said.

Just hoping the damage can be repaired to the original condition and hope the landmark can be saved.

No doubt given their current attitude, the WAFC will cry poor and demand that the 7 WAFL clubs dip into their "bottomless money bags" and pay for the repairs. This degenerate woman most likely wont have insurance and wont have any assets to sue so who pays??

Maybe the two AFL teams can make a contribution .............bahahahahahah

A 29 year old woman has been charged after police alleged she was driving the car that crashed into Subiaco Oval’s heritage gates.
Apparently the woman was also charged with stealing a motor vehicle and driving recklessly with no authority to drive.
She is to appear in Court on the 15th of January.

Moves are being made between the Wafl and Subiaco council to repair the gates.
Subiaco Mayor Heather Henderson is reported to have said, “I hope that the iconic, heritage-listed gates will be restored to glory before the football season kicks off.”
