Mike Hussey wants to come back and play shield cricket for WA. I hope they say no thanks Mike. He's been great for us, but I was under the impression that WA are in a rebuilding phase. We haven't even won a chook raffle for years, so youth is the way to go.

He was only coming back for the remainder of the season so he might be able to help fast track the young kids from a playing role in the side.

If anything get him back in a coaching/mentoring role maybe.

WA has some good young kids who just need to be guided in the right direction for them to realise their potential.

Have to disagree Shark. We were all over him in the off season to play for us. Just because he played for NSW in the mickey mouse league means nothing. I want to win the shield and he might help us do it. After all he is a West Aussie and not some blow in from elswhere.

Call me cynical but it seems to me that Hussey perhaps sensing that his move to play against the WA team in the 20-20 competition was not going down too well and floated the idea that he might be available to play some shield matches for WA for the rest of the season to calm the criticism. He chose not to play for WA in the 20-20 competition, so there is no way that he should be allowed to pick and choose when he is available to play for WA in the Sheffield Shield. If he wants to come down to the WACA and do some VOLUNTARY work in fast tracking the younger players I have no problems with that. However, he should be told unequivocally that he is not going to be selected for WA in the Sheffield Shield competition for season 2013/14.

WA would do much better with him than without him swan42.. plus he would bring in more of the public to the WACA which could only be a good thing.. Didnt SD try something similar with Hansen wanting to play in the finals last year after not playing during the season? bet you would of been happy with that..

I also disagree 58 and Swan.

Hussey would be a great asset to the team as both player and mentor. You hear all the older generation commentators (former players) and their words on Hussey's work ethic and committments. If he is able to provide this knowledge and outlook to our younger kids, it will be invaluable.

He chose not to play for Perth in the 20/20, he was offered more money elsewhere. Most cricketers believe 20/20 is just a money maker and hence their should be no loyalty, look at Marcus North....is anyone going to stop him from coming back to the Warriors given his 4 day form...I dont think so.
