The other problem for Dutton is getting the states to agree and while it's Labor Premiers across the board, that won't be easy.

not one single resident anywhere wants to share a lane with one single truck with nuke waste in it
and let me tell you the land values anywhere within 200 kilometres of a plant will just fall through the floor we all know that
this guy has just made a big big blunder
and how he thinks he's going to overturn the law on this one is just well fecken weird in itself
he has to come out now with what power will cost after he's somehow got the rabbit out
and that WILL be bloody high in fact out of reach for any ordinary Aussie since he's telling everyone within earshot the Govt will be paying for it
nah it stinks and he's about to find out harshly

I’ve read 2 articles that have mentioned Muja as the one.

And I read that of the top 20 economies in the world, Australia is the only one without nuclear power generation, or not moving into it.

Not sure that’s anymore dangerous than the thousands of cars that sit in lanes next to road trains fully laden with huge sacks of ammonium nitrate that’s mostly used by mining companies to blow up rocks. But if it comes into contact with water I believe it becomes volatile. Ask Beirut residents.

As for Collie being against it, from the interviews last night the Shire President was open to the idea and many residents interviewed said it was a great employment and investment opportunity in the district.

Would be billions of dollars worth of investment, in construction and long term real jobs, unlike renewables which by their very nature hardly employ anyone.

We have Labor coast to coast at the moment that wont be for ever, Qld Labor are goners and WA are tanking.

Anyway Federal Gov would be able to do it without them, Constitution gives with power over states with several heads of power to take land.

Absolute nonsense
Radioactive material has been safely transported for about 70 years and there has never been an accident resulting in a significant impact on the health and safety of people or the environment. The in-built safety features of the packages, regulatory controls, and emergency response procedures have always worked to ensure safety. Around the world, 20 million packages of radioactive material are safely transported each year on public roads, railways and ships. Just like all the other routine and daily transports of radioactive materials that occur in Australia.
Transport and around the world, the transport of radioactive waste from more than 100 locations around the country to a centralised National Radioactive Waste Management Facility will be conducted in a way that is completely safe for people and the environment. The specific transport routes and methods from the many existing radioactive waste storage locations around Australia will be determined as part of detailed planning following selection of a preferred site.
